Video Game Reviews of NASCAR Racing: 2002 SeasonCustomer Review: NASCAR Racing: 2002 Season Summary: 5 StarsThis is an incredible game. I highly recommend it if you like high action, realistic, multi-player game.
Customer Review: complements Summary: 1 StarsI have only played the demo, but in the time that I did I have found a few things to say. First of all, I thonk that the setup should be a lot less confusing. I also think there should be an official in the pit box. I also think the controls should be less confusing. And when calibrating I should be able to use the up arrow as the accelerator, and the left and right arrows to steer, the down arrow to brake, and the backspace key to go in reverse. Compared to Nascar Racing 3 I would say that game is much better, the reson being that the setup in that game is much easier to follow. However, what I do like about this game is that you can make swaw bar adjustments during the race. But I do think it should be easier to do. Another comment is that during a pit stop, if you make a tape adjustment you should see the person ptting on ro pulling off the tape. I also think it should be like NASCAR 2002 for Playstaion, you can do multiple seasons like a franchise, as you go on legends retire as rookies come on to the field.
Customer Review: The best racing car dynamics model in the world ... Summary: 2 Stars... wasted on endless oval tracks, which require little driving skill to master & are mind-numbingly boring to drive for more than a few laps. The Nascar racing engine is without equal in the world, for graphics, sound, and particularly, for vehicle dynamics. Every time I watch the latest Nascar amateur music video, I am in ore of how incredibly real the crash physics look. The sheer genius that has gone into creating this simulation is obvious. I just wish Papyrus would use their game engine to create a more diverse set of racing simulations, or license their engine to other games developers, in the way Id software has done, with their Quake III engine. No, I'm not a Nascar fan, unfortunately, but then neither are most people who live outside the USA - of which, there are quite a few. What about the rest of us? Yes, Papyrus, you have created the BRILLIANT simulation, Grand Prix Legends (GPL), which is the finest racing simulation ever created, in my opinion, but that was almost 4 years ago! Similarly, Viper Racing is 3 years old. In that time we've had many versions of Nascar, but nothing else. I, like so many other racing sim fans, would do anything for a new version of GPL, or any other racing simulation that isn't Nascar. For game engine: 5 out of 5. For overall game excitement: 2.
Customer Review: This is the ultimate simulator for Nascar racing, period. Summary: 5 StarsWords can't describe how awesome of a game this is,no, wait, this is no game at all, this is a honest to goodness transition of America's favorite motorsport to a breathtaking simulator that is on your desktop. It has what a fan wants, a driver seat in the action of 750 horses marching foward at blinding speeds like horsemen fighting for position down a backstrip of Daytona. EA can't touch Papyrus's passion for realism. EA's version of realism is starting from 24th and winding up at 1st in 2 laps, 1 if you are lucky. Papyrus doesn't want to sugarcoat the experience, they want you to know both the pleasures and excitement of Nascar racing, but also the misfortune of breakdowns and failed engines. Damage is handled beautifully, smoke flows, rubber squeals, it's everything a Nascar fan could want, buy it now, for some premium racing. You must know the track and all it's grooves and weak spots, as well as when to use the draft and with whom and when to just rebel against an orderly pack and to carry others with you to create a draft line more to your liking and to challenge theirs to come out on top. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Park will tell you how real it is, and you won't hear them saying the same about Thunder, plus you can get updates on your game and race over the net and make your own paintjobs, trust me, this is awesome.
Customer Review: Few tweaks different from Nascar4 Summary: 5 StarsOnce again the team at Sierra has done a great job. Ive only ran the demo but so far it looks like its gonna be another challenge. There are a few noticable differances like the fuel burning out of the exhaust to the sound of the engines. There are also a lot of similarites but the reputation that the past games have had will indeed live up to the past and push the sell of this game. There are a few things that I would like to see change, like the spotter, Id like to hear a few more detailed info and not just some computer generated sounding voice, maybe even talk between the spotter & crew chief, maybe an official watching the pit stops, have the AI cars stay in line & draft to work to catch another pack when on superspeedways. These are just a couple of ideas that maybe will get some consideration for the next go 'round. Well, so far it seems like the crew at Sierra are right on track with their latest release of Nascar 2002, Great Job Guys!
