Video Game Reviews of X-Plane v 9.0Customer Review: Stay Away and save your cash!! Summary: 1 StarsI don't write a lot of reviews, however I'm compelled to warn people who my be interested in a Flight Sim product and stumble on this one. Don't fall for any hype you may have heard--this soft ware is NOT USER FRIENDLY!! It certainly isn't more realistic than the really fine Microsoft product. Microsoft FSX will give you all the realism you will want--limited only by the power of your computer. BE FORWARNED ALL flight sims require a lot of computer muscle to run realistically. The big difference in the two products is the interface with the user--MFS is akin to speaking to someone in your native tongue, however using this product is like being hopelessly lost in small backwater town in China and no one around you speaks a word of English. Need I say more? I didn't like the modeling of the aircraft and found them inferior to MFS aircraft. The terrain is the only bright spot--but even it isn't great. There is just something about MFX terrain that makes it convincing. If you want to spend hours flying get MFSX...if want to spend hours trying to figure out how to navigate an inferior software product--by all means buy this and have at it!! But, not my idea of a fun Sunday afternoon!!
Customer Review: Not My Thing Summary: 2 StarsWell, I guess if you want to spend hours figuring out how to make it look more realistic, and actually want to spend even more hours learning to use it.........this might be for you. But, if you just enjoy flying airplanes, then I would suggest Flight Sim X by Microsoft. I bought X Plane from their web site for $39.00 ("great deal" before they increased the price, but still haven't). It is far more complicated than I was expecting. I just want to take off, fly someplace and land. If you are working on advanced "tickets" then X-Plane IS probably what you want. But, you can have a blast flying MANY different aircraft with FSX, with good graphics, functional panels, realistic simulations, and force feedback if you desire. If you just want to "try your hand" with a King Air, 172, DC3 or my favorite, the Piper J3 Cub, then don't mess with X-Plane. It was a complete waste of forty bucks for me.
Oh, by the way, get FSX Gold so you can fly an F-18 Hornet. Great fun!!! And, a real challenge to land on a carrier!!
Customer Review: My point of view Summary: 4 StarsJust be aware that this is NOT the Hybrid version of X-Plane that works on Windows/Mac/Linux. This is just the Windows version. I ordered it and it was a mistake for me because i use a mac. I highly recommend purchasing this product from the X-Plane site directly.
Customer Review: xplane v 9.0 Summary: 5 StarsI love the product. I need to get flight control stick versus mouse and using keys. I believe it would be much easier to use. You have large selections of planes and able to download more.
Customer Review: Can't even really give it one star Summary: 1 Stars I can't even give it one star really, since I have no idea how it plays. The Game won't load because it "Can't extract certain files". What a bust. It's returned and I'm looking for a flight simulator that actually works. Anyone know one?
