Video Game Reviews of Uru: Ages Beyond MystCustomer Review: Totally immersive, but check your specs before buying Summary: 4 StarsIf you like solitary adventure games, highly detailed and gorgeous graphics, and music that complements and enhance the environment, you'll love Uru. But this endorsement comes with this caveat: Be sure your computer meets or exceeds the minimum requirements listed on the Uru forum for technical help. Be extra sure you have a "supported" graphics card, and follow the suggestions given in the forums, e.g., turn off other programs. I have a Dell Dimension 4300 with 512 MB RAM, an old nVidia GeForce FX 5200, a 1.2 GHz Pentium 4, a Creative SoundBlaster card, and decent speakers; I'm running Windows 2000. Uru runs flawlessly. It is a wonderful universe to just wander in for hours.
Customer Review: Eh...well... Summary: 3 StarsI haven't gotten through the whole game yet, but so far, it's a bust. The most fun part is being able to change your clothes...and that's it. Everything is so complicated and if you don't jump right, walk right or look at something right, it will mess the whole game up. I would recommend not buying this game just because of the fact that it's not like the first three. It makes Ubisoft look horrible.
Customer Review: URU Summary: 5 StarsA must have! A hard game with great graphics! Also, if you get this, get Path of the Shell (expansion pack) if you want the FULL game! I used a walkthrough.
Customer Review: Uru is a fantastic adventure! Summary: 5 Stars Don't listen to the negative reviews, Uru is quite possibly one of the best adventure games ever made. Its graphics are gorgeous, its lush enviroments are the most breathtaking I have ever seen in any game. The puzzles are challenging, but not overly difficult, they actually quite brilliant. I loved the ability to create your own avatars.
The only downsides are that the controls could use a little tweaking, and the ability to pick up objects would be nice (it's irritating to have try to move a stone with your feet into one spot). I am also extremely disappointed that the massively multiplayer version, uru live, was canceled.
Still, if your a fan of the adventure genre you MUST have this game.
Customer Review: A major disappointment Summary: 1 StarsWhen I heard that the makers of Myst had created yet another adventure game, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Taking into account that I had thoroughly enjoyed all of the other Myst games, I expected that Uru would be no letdown. Wrong!!! As it turned out, Uru did not even work on my computer; the game merely allowed me to view the introduction before requiring some advanced graphics card and stopping dead in its tracks. This game was such a disappointment! I had been so fond of the Myst series until this little party pooper came around. I had basically exchanged 50 dollars for Uru's cover art and a fruitless 30-minute installation! Anyway, if you plan on buying this game, be aware that it requires a computer that was probably invented seconds before the game's completion.
