I have to admit - this is the most solid and hefty steering wheel I've bought. Comparing it to other names like the Universal, or logitech, this is much more solid, and sadly the cheapest of all of them! The red part is metal and the wheel is rubberized. The pedals look small, but they are very solid. The unit has a very good mount compared to competition. On the other models it's busted so I've had to put a piece of 1/2" plywood mounted on the bottom of the unit, and embed T-bolts in it, so it then can be mounted directly to the table-surface with wing-nuts and a cross-bar. This guy's mount seems solid enough that it won't fail and will hold even with my son's rambunctious steering habits. It does not have as many buttons as the other models (one down side) but given the choice of strength vs controls - this guy wins out. Worked right out of the box with my Mac.
