First let me say I have spent literally hundreds of hours playing this game and absolutely love it. The bad news is that it would not play on the new more powerful PC I bought in back in 2004, but I was not too disappointed because I was having so much fun with Rome: Total War, the next generation game in the Total War family. I recently bought yet another PC (March 2009) in anticipation of Empire being released and out of curiosity attempted to play Medieval on it. It crashes every time before a single move. I spent a tremendous amount of time on the net, blogging, tweaking the PC, and downloading patches, etc....but without success. On this basis I must warn you that you might very well be in for the same disappointment unless your system is ancient. I give the game five stars for fun but one overall due to the crashing problem.
