I'll admit i was hesatent at first to play this game, but once I started, I couldn't stop. This game is awesome. I will say though a downfall is the length,(it's a bit short), but it ends perfectly enough to make up for that. The graphics are great, the speed is fine... Very Fun. Storylines a bit morbid, but control and everything else is amazing. I would highly recommend getting this.Customer Review: Great Game!!

Wow, Max Payne is an amazing game. It is essentially a third-person shooter. But it is not your ordinary run-of-the-mill shoot-em-up game. Nah, Max Payne is an outstanding game that incorporates a huge storyline with phenomenal game-play. You are Max Payne, a Narcotics cop whose wife and infant are killed by trigger-happy junkies. Max Payne sets out on a crusade to find the source of the drug that the junkies were using, and to get answers as to why they chose his house. The storyline isn't as simple as it sounds. Max Payne's storyline is set as a graphic novel, in which the "cinematics" that most video games use are replaced by a comic book. The language that Max Payne uses is highly symbolic and strangely chilling. I would say that the best part of Max Payne is its storyline.
Now, I don't mean to say that Max Payne isn't fun to play. No, the game-play is enormously fun and engrossing. There is a facet that sets Max Payne apart from all other shooters: bullet time. You can slow down the game speed with a click of a button, and do flips to avoid bullet fire. This was obviously inspired by the Matrix, and was pulled off briliantly. When you turn on bullet time, you can dive through the air while spraying with two Ingrams, or jump backwards while firing with a Pump-Action shotgun.
There is also a multitude of levels, so you won't finish this game quickly. Parts of the game are actually scary, as you travel through Max's nightmares and drug-induced paranoia.
Overall, I believe Max Payne to be one of the best games I have ever played. The only downside is that there is no multiplayer, but it is easily made up with incredible game-play, an intriguing storyline, and bullet time. For any fan of shoot-em-up games, THIS IS A MUST-HAVE GAME! Even if you aren't a fan of shooters, you might wanna buy this game. It might make you into a fan.

I got this game and I couldn't stop playing it for days! The story takes place like a graphic novel, which is a cool twist, but you get to play the action parts. The graphics are really nothing to get excited about, but the bullet time action makes the game 100 times more fun than any other 3D shooter. Not only that, the selection of weapons you have to choose from is so cool. I love this game.Customer Review: One of the top 10 PC games of all-time.

Released in December 2001 for the PC and later for the PS-2, Max Payne captivated gamers with its jawdropping bullet-time feature, dark and engrossing story and over the top action. Even now I still have a blast playing it. The graphic-novel sequences were suprisingly good and well made and to boot the voice acting was not all that bad either. The game has great sound, amazing graphics, immersive plot and awesome weapons (Colt Commando Rox) If you have not had the sheer pleasure of sitting down in front of your computer for several hours playing this tight game, I highly recommend you purchase Max Payne as soon as possible (Max Payne 2 should come out some time in summer 2003)Customer Review: BANG

I mean like BANG..... This game is so cool i played it for three straight days... din't even sleep. I got fired from my job becasue i stayed home and played it. It is about as addicting as ... ....not saying i ... ..., or ... it. Just buy the game and you will have fun.
