Video Game Reviews of Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa

Customer Review: This game rocks
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is a load of fun. They are constantly adding content to this game. This game is very original and fast paced. It is fun to use shotguns and rifles instead of the usual magic items or spells. You get a feel that you are always fighting for you life.
As of this time almost all serious bugs have been fixed. New hybrid classes have been added. They have added new content that would normally be saved for an expansion.
This game is well worth the money.

Customer Review: Best new MMO out there
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a really good game. First game I've played done by Richard Garrett and its been pretty fun.

I originally played this game for about 2 weeks and then stopped as the initial release was missing alot of things that other MMOs have (auction house, redistribute talent points, smarter NPCs, more difficult combat [It was too easy to mop up like 30 NPCs with a shoty... more tedious than fun because you know you'd own them, even at your same lvl]).

I picked this game back up after month and half and they released a new patch that addressed alot of the things I didn't like about the game. Military surplus now serves as an auction house, better AI on NPCs, color grades of weapons (for those WoWers out there - gray, green, blue, purple, red), more difficult combat, new animations etc. I've heard their coming out with mechanized mounts (sorry for the WoW jargon) that you can drive and have weapons on... that would totally keep me hooked!

The world feels like a battle is going on.. which adds to the intensity of the game.

My only other complaint is the graphics are kinda mediocre... they look like graphics that would have been awesome in say like... 2001-2003. They aren't terrible, but I would say not as nice as WoW (although WoW to me is a bit cartoony). The logos effects are kinda cool when you cast them but could probably be a bit more flashy IMO. The explosions are pretty decent too.

I would recommend getting a microphone and maybe a mouse with extra buttons to help better cycle through the left action bar weapons and right action bar abilities/skills. Although, you will be fine with the keyboard... I just found in a bit awkward.

Customer Review: Nice game but....
Summary: 1 Stars

I played the game for about two weeks and I must admit for the first three days I was having a good time, by the 4th day I realize how reptitive the game is. The MOB's are a good challenge, but get boring. All travel is by foot or teleporters, there are no vehicles at all!
I played other online games like planetside, EVE, EQ, EQ2, BF2142,BF2, SWG, Matrix, etc and I always look for certain qualities that may a game seem fresh. So Tabula rasa is nice for a quick fix of sci-fi combat but the fun will wear off quickly when you realize that it is the same thing over and over again. To add the plot is a bit depressing it sounds like the humans are a dying race and are fighting a fruitless never ending war. Enjoy the grind if you have nothing better to do.

Customer Review: Immaturity abound!
Summary: 2 Stars

This game is a fun game. I will warrant that. The physics and the leveling system are superb. I recommend it to anyone who can ignore idiocy.

The issue with the game is that no matter where you go, you get people who spend all of their time simply telling everyone who is anywhere near them that World of Warcraft sucks. Then they go on to say that whoever defends WoW should just go play that instead.

Sorry for not being a one-game man, O god of Tabula Rasa!

The conversations are repetitive, they're boring, and you can't find an intelligent conversation anywhere. It's depressing. I quit after a week because of how rarely I could actually find people to play with.

Customer Review: TR-Not just for the kiddies
Summary: 4 Stars

First off let me say the scenery in this game is beautiful. The characters you create are semi believeable, not cartoonish like in WoW.

Your goal in TR is to be part of the AFS (military organization) and fight against the bane. TR is a good blend of and FPS and MMO. If you like plenty of action this game's for you.

I played about 3 weeks in Beta prior to release, and now have a level 34 character, plus about 4 other lower level characters. I have not felt like I was grinding to get to the next level or worrying about getting some uber weapon, because your so busy doing missions and instances, you look down and you've gained a level or been rewarded a nice weapon. I personally like the fact you don't have to grind away trying to beat someone else to a weapon. They have introduced an auction house also, which is nice to sell any extra gear you acquire or buy better armor if you don't want to wait and find it yourself.

Another nice feature is the "clone" system. You can earn clone rewards along the way and try different classes without having to re-run the game from the start. This is very nice.

Some of the maps-areas have a few bugs, but I have found the GM's to be very nice and helpful to get by these. GM support seems to be getting better
