Customer Review: A good game gets even better!

I love this game. New in this version is Powersliding, which is a real fun travel power your character starts with, which is somewhat faster than Sprint.
The graphics are phenomenal, and I even enjoy the game music. It's become my addiction as I try out different characters and work on building them up and fighting crime in Paragon City.
The one down side to the game is that it's a pay subscription to play ($15.00/month), but the moderators and tech support are so great that it's worth it in my opinion. Servers are maintained on a regular basis as well.

Well, the reason i put in a 5 star rate is because i havn't yet played the game but im looking forward to it. The game looks pretty decent the way people have described it but pretty much all they have been talking about is partying up and going out and doing missions togeather. Well, no doubt it looks cool, ive seen just about ever single screen shot out there and it looks cool, and the game play looks killing. But there is one thing that baffles me that i can't find any where and that is if it has a monthy fee to play it. If it did that would blow but i guess it kinda depends on how much it is. City of Heroes is the first MMORPG I've ever fallen in love with. I fall outside the usual demographic for this type (or most types) of video games, being female, married, and over 30. The game keeps expanding, both in playability and in backstory.
This new version is really aimed at new players, although if you are a seriously addicted hero, and you have the $50 to spare, powerslide is superhero skateboarding (try it around a tram station) and the transparent Cape of the Four Winds works nicely with almost any costume. The little non-game extras on the DVD are available online, and unless there are hidden extras that will appear as you rise in level (and I don't think there are), there isn't a LOT of reason to buy this disc -- unless you just HAVE to have the Statesman Heroclix toy.
Again, a lot of fun, but not necessary to playing and enjoying the game. But you will see me powersliding around tram stations!

City of heroes is a MMOPG game--that is a massively multi player online game. This is the second version with the original game and hero creator along with the first two updates. It features special powers/effects that are not available to players who purchased the original.
In city of heroes, you get to create your own hero--choosing its archtype (blaster,defender,scrapper,tank, controller) and its powers. You then create a hero (which is very fun)--choosing its sex (male/female/huge male) and picking out its costume. This is one of the best parts of the game!
After that, you get to enter the world of paragon city. You start off weak but progress or level as you kill bad guys, save citizens, finish missions. The great thing is that you get to team up with other heroes to do this or you can solo. As you level you get access to more powers/capes and enhancements which can strengthen the powers you have already.
City of heroes was the first online game that i played and it was simple to learn and to master. I have played for about 3 months and i am never bored. There are many opportunities for grouping and joining larger super groups that ensure you always have someone to team with. The tech support is very good as well...the few times i had trouble, there was always a GM around to help me out.
This version has several new features:
--A VIP badge- which would be essential for those who are badge collectors, but has no new power.
--The invisible cape of 4 winds
--new powerslide power: which moves like superspeed but looks like you are surfing down the street, very cool.
For those already having the original game, i don't think that there is much newer content in this version to warrent the extra money..unless you are like me and have to have every badge! (still working on that illusionist one if there are any interested heroes!!!)
But for new players- get this version!
