This is definitely a game I would recommend.The graphics are amazing.You can put very intresting animals in your zoo from red pandas to zebras.zoo tycoon complete collection is pretty fun but this one is better.On zoo tycoon complete collection you can play freeform games,but you don't get unlimited money.In this one you can play with more unique animals and you get unlimited money.Anyone who likes zoos should get this game.Customer Review: Lacks in some areas and makes up elsewhere

I was a huge fan of Zoo Tycoon since the very first one hit the shelves. After that, I purchased each and every expansion pack as soon as they came out. I grew older though and soon distanced myself from the series which was about the time Zoo tycoon 2 came out. I was cleaning up my stuff one day and found my old Zoo Tycon: Complete expansion pack. Floods of nostalgia came pouring in as I set it up and played it. I then recalled them making a brand new series and so I looked it up. By then, Endangered Species came out so I downloaded a demo of it and loved it! The very next day I went out and purchased Zoo Tycoon 2 and recently, purchased both Endangered Species and African Adventure. Needless to say, this is not like the first series but it holds it own.
The exhibits are not challenging to make (I recall yelling at the stupid Markhor to like his exhibit in the old ZT) however the ennviroment that ZT2 has makes up for it - how the animals interact with thier surroundings.
The original had 44 animals. We see alot of these return however some favorites don't make it into this game. However, ZT2 includes animals that people were begging for (i.e. Ring-tailed Lemur, American Beaver, Peafowl, Red Panda) even though it's only 30 of them. These animals would of never been able to be put in the orginal ZT but in this series, we get them. As well, this might of had 30 animals in it but add 40 extra animals from the most recent expansion packs and you got yourself a nice selection of animals to choose from.
The zookeepers are pretty dumb in this game however the guests are very animated and more personal.
The zoo keeper mode is just plain cool.
The only thing I am a bit skeptical on is some of the animal behaviors and the amount of buildings in this game. I miss the Bird, Reptile, Insect houses that the first ZT had.
Overall, it's on par with the orginal series cause it adds it's own qualities that ZT1 didn't have and vice versa.

I Bought this game after a dissapointing and rip off expierience from buying Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Gold, (RCT3 still won't work on my powerful DEll XPS Dimension desktop with My Nvidia GeForce 2 9.0 Graphics Card) which is a pretty powerful Graphics card. So I went out and bought Zoo Tycoon 2 which was made by microsoft, so it works very well with Windows XP. THis game is very fun and lifelike. You can Go into to guest mode and clean up after the animals, guests, and go up very close to your animals. You can play Campaign mode , challeng mode, and free play mode. In freeroam mode, you can play zoo tycoon 2 without worying about mony because you get unlimited everything. It is a great way to practice. The 3D is very good in this game, you can zoo in around and almost everywhere. The expansion packs are the reason why there are limited animal choices, so in order to get an average group of zoo animals, you have to buy the expansiom packs, but the basic game comes with many choices of animals and buildings. all in all, choose this over Roller Coaster tycoon 3: wild , Simsafari, or any other game that tried to rip off Zoo Tycoon. This game rocks! It is a great game for the family with a lot of strategy involved. This game has good graphics and game play. Although I was a little disappointed about it not having the same animals and building that the original ZT had it made up for it for adding new kinds of building, terrain features, and animals. It also is alot easier to play than the original for the game system is alot smarter. Another thing that made me happy was that it didn't cost any money to add different terrain or build hills and cliffs. This game is a little slow at the beginning but once you continue to play it becomes more fun and challenging. One thing i love about this game is that the Freeform mode is more of a "sand box" than the original one letting you have unlimited money. So overall this is a great game for family and just to have fun.Customer Review: a great game for everybody!

In this fun, and yet, challenging game, you have to try to keep guests coming to your zoo, and always making sure you have enough money. You are put into the shoes of a zoo owner, and you want to make sure both your guests and animals are happy and not ill. It has all the ups and downs of owning a real zoo, for example: if you don't add bathrooms or garbage cans, your guests will get mad and leave the zoo. You also have this "zoo fame", where you try to get up to five stars, which means your zoo is famous worldwide. You have to make sure all the animals are where they are supposed to be, and not scaring any people away. This might seem like a big job, but once you start, you get addicted to it and can never stop! The one species that are really hard to keep track of are penguins: this feisty animals seem to break loose of their cage no matter how strong the fence is! However, this is overall the best computer game I have ever played, and I'm sure it will be for you too!
