You can name the animals and take care of the animals yourself. There is a freeform mode and leopard. I really like the leopard. I only have the demo but am waiting for my inter-library loan to come in. My demo is not dull and I also have the old version of the game.

INTRO
I picked this game up at Wal-Mart one day with my dad, and when I got home I tried it out. It took a bit to install it, but all in all it was fantastic. I was very impressed with the graphics, and music is cute also.
PROS
When you start at the main screen, you can play the Campiagn game, the Challenge game, and the Freeform game. The Campiagn game has different challenges with different animals, like 3 months talking care of Elephants. Then there's the Challenge game, where you can choose your money from 1,000 dollars-10,000,000 dollars! I personaly like the the Freeform game the best, because you can choose from any animal, fence, building, furnish, biome, tree, flower, path,rock,toy,animal shelter,or animal food you want! You also have unlimited money, which is a big plus (Let's wish for that in real life)!
CONS
These are the cons of these games:
Doesn't save your game right (I lost over 4-5 zoos)
Bad graphics with the people who come to your zoo
Doesn't exit right
CONCLUSION
All in all I love this game. It is amazing, and it is so much better than the first. If you love creating and animals like I do, I recomend this game to you!

I've played Zoo tycoon with expansion packs(plural) and zoo tycoon2 with one expansion pack (endangered species), and I'd derfinetly say that zoo tycoon 2 was WAY better!
1. Better Graphics
2.No need to work for more animals(in freeform, anyway)
3.Not sure if just zootycoon2 has this, but jeep rides and a skytram:)
4.TELLS you what the animal wants, wheras in the original you had to fix every exibit you made
5.Music rocks that make the guests dance really bad

After trying several copies we are giving up on this game - very poor quality control. Would not load properly and numerous other bugs while attempting to play. No problems with other games including original (first) Zoo Tycoon. Avoid this one. Customer Review: Make sure you read the system requirements

Like many, I 've put together a hodge podge of older computers for the kids. This game requires a recent computer to run. Three computers of fairly recent vintage (Windows 2000 or XP) all failed to have the right memory, processing speed or graphics boards to run this game. The game was a hit as a present, but we'll probably return it instead of buying a new computer for the children.
