It's the best mech game yet with lots of expanions! 21 different mechs,3 light,5 medium,8 heavy,5 assult. there's a mechlab to costomize your mech(it dosn't change the mechs look),change it's armor, electroinc, jumpjets, weapons, paint and other stuff.Then it's time to battle you can do misson play, wave and others, misson play is many different missons, wave is you get to choose 4 diffrent mechs to battle. then change the map, day or night, your mech, and lacemates and their mechs.Also choose heat or off, invicability on or off, unlimitid ammo on or off, and slash dammage on or off in the options section.

I first got hooked on Mechwarrior when i was 6. i played mech 2 and mech3. Now, here is mech 4, the greatest of them all. the game has come a long way. in mechwarrior 2, you could destroy the toughest mech in the game in only 6 shots from the weakest weapon(and this is with no cheats). in mech 4, you need to shoot a mech a lot of times to destroy it. this makes the game more realistic. the weapons are also top of the art. the graphics are great for weapon fire! In mech 2, the PPC, a 'strong' weapon was a simple ball of blue that took a million years to reach it's target(and it's a beam weapon. Right!). Pathetic! in mech 4, the PPc is a blue lightning bolt like object that takes like a millisecond to reach it's target! Much more real!
the graphics are also majorly advanced. It looks much more like the real planet. it has landscaping and the cities look like real cities.
My final comment is the jump jets. in mech 2, you can jump a 100 ton mech 200+ meters into the air. Now is that really posible? No. in mech 4, the jump jets can boost a 100 ton mech about 20+ meters into the air(not counting it's height).
MECHWWARRIOR HAS COME A LONG WAY. IF YOU WANT A GOOD GAME OF THE MECHWARRIOR FAMILY, I RECOMMEND MECHWARRIOR 4.

Graphic's were ok.Didn't like how they changed the keystrokes nor the fact that you have to shoot another mech 200 times to kill them..Shoot a leg off & it's still there..What gives with that?Another bothersome thing about this game are all those video's you can't bypass..On all the rest of the games just hit esc & the video stop's & you can enter into battle.But not on this game.You must endure all the [game] video's.I've played all the Mechwarrior games & this is as disapointing as Heavy Gear was.Even was a member of Clan Wolf on the old Mplayer.com mech2 online gaming site.I'm just hoping Mech4 Mercs won't be like this one is. It's too bad I can't play my Mech2 & Mech2 merc's anymore due to my O/S..It just won't play DOS based games.Customer Review: GOOD GAME!!!!!!!!!

I was stunned by this game. Way back in 1996, mechwarrior2 addicted me to the battlemech universe. I played the game over and over for 4 years and it kept getting better as I upgraded my computer. Eventually after running it on my old amd k7 500 mx with 196mb ram and a geforce2 32mb card I was extremely impressed. The game had transitioned for an okay game with average graphics and great gameplay to one with outstanding graphics and great gameplay. So I assumed that Mechwarrior 4 would follow in those footsteps, despite the different companies which designed the game. I loaded mechwarrior 4 onto my brand spankin new AMD 2200+ XP with 256mb pc2100 ram, 266fsb and my old trustworth geforce 2 32mb video card and became depressed. The graphics are horrible, on the level with the old xwing star wars games, I also couldn't even get past the first training mission without encountering mysterious errors like my mech running in circles despite my control input (and no it wasn't due to an uncalibrated joystick, i tried keyboard only). Although the cinematics are great looking, much better than mechwarrior 2 they are just that cinematics, not the actual game. Microsoft needs to go learn some serious lessons about graphics from activision. I view this game as a complete waste of money, I wanted something that was familiar but new enough to challenge my new system, the game might have interesting gameplay but I don't want to waste my time on a game with asethetics that were available to me 6 years ago and with 1/6th the computing power. Shame on microsoft.
