Video Game Reviews of Mech Warrior 4: Mercenaries

Customer Review: The greatest game ever created
Summary: 5 Stars

I started out getting hooked on Mechwarrior 2. MW4 is my favorite all time game. You can play on the MSN Gaming Zone....with a total of 16 players at the same time! There are MANY leagues for online play, and many "units" to join. Engage in combat against the computer, or against humans online. Team play is fabulous. I use voice communications programs with the game and you talk while you fight. I use Battlecom for voice.
Graphics are excellent. You need a good computer to play this. You should also get the IS and CLAN "Mechpaks". Getting Mechwarrior 4 is also recommended. You can download additional maps for Mercenaries at various websites. The Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick is great with this game. To me, games like QUAKE are no comparison. You pilot a walking tank, from 35 to 100 tons. Many types. You have to configure and choose weapons. Lasers, missles, cannon, the works. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Best Mech Sim game yet
Summary: 4 Stars

Actually give this 4-1/2 stars. This is the best of all of the Mechwarrior series. Mercenaries takes you even deeper into the world of mech combat. You are not only piloting some awesome mechs, managing weapons and resources, but must now make some choices about alliances, missions, and lancemates which by the way you can have up to 7 now. (not to mention the graphics are gorgeously rendered, with enough detail to give perspective on the size of these monsters). The only thing I would add to the wish list on this one is being given the capability to carry pilots from one game to the next. If you like good simulation games (NOT Arcade style), this is a MUST BUY!!!!

Customer Review: Kill'em All; and collect some cash along the way!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is so cool, it kicks my .... I have been playing the MW games for a long time, and this one is the best yet. Aside from being limited to only a few terrain types, the graphics are pretty good; although, they have not changed from the original MW4. If you like having the option of picking your missions, making money, and buying new mechs, then this game is for you. The gladiator style matches are a very nice touch and I can sit for hours playing through each of the weight classes and advaning my cause. If you like BattleTech, then you'll like this game.

Customer Review: A Great Game!
Summary: 5 Stars

i love this game. I went from Mechwarrior 3 to this and i'm pleased. The only thing i don't like is the way you place the weapons. In the earlier games you just stuck a weapon in the arm and it fit. I also didn't like the 2-D people and animals. It was so cool in Mechwarrior 3 to watch people explode in a satisfying shower of blood. I was also pleased they brought some of the old'Mechs from the Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries game. The mechs look awesome!! I only don't like how the owens and puma look. Their heads stick out to much. They look like retarted turtles. All in all i love this game.

Customer Review: Keeps me busy
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the first Mechwarrior game I've bought... ever. So I don't have anything to compare this to.
To say the least, it's a VERY fun game. Kind of straightforward though, and not much to each of the missions. You just choose your mission, and go blow stuff up. They usuallly don't take any more than 10 minutes a piece, which can be nice, but it would also be nice to be able to do a long, drug out mission from time to time where it involves more then just blowing stuff up.
The sounds are awesome and the Mech graphics are great, but the terrain maps [stinks]. 2-D sprite trees, people, bushes, etc... That is the one thing that I cannot stand about this game is the NICE quality graphics of the mechs meshed with the not-so-good looking graphics of the backgrounds. Oh well, it doesn't take away from the gameplay.
As a final note, I'd say if you're a veteran fan of Mechwarrior, don't buy this game, as you will probably be disappointed. BUT if you're a first-timer like me, you'll have quite a bit of fun with it!
