Video Game Reviews of Age of Empires IIICustomer Review: It just wouldn't run Summary: 1 StarsMy hw is overkill for the game. It seemed to install just fine. And then it just wouldn't run. Click on the icon and nothing happened. There was no help anywhere for it. I checked all the "fixes" online and nothing worked. I've worked for VAR's troubleshooting PC's for a living and I couldn't get it to run. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
Customer Review: Age of Empires III - My son's review Summary: 5 StarsMy 11 years old son has been playing Age of Empires III for the past couple of months. What follows is his review of the game. My only edits were fixing a couple of misspellings and adding a comma or 2.
He's been playing on a Sony VAIO laptop with Vista.

Age of Empire is about conquering certain parts of what is known today as the United States. You can select a home town and use their unique abilities and fight for the land.
The game has a very good story mode. It gives you instant action in some levels and in others it is a slow advancing game. It has a very good mix of the two along with the little movies in some levels.
The game's graphics are very good if you have good graphics hardware. If not you will have to do with low graphics and deal with it if you don't like lag. It is not much of a loss if you just want to play the game. If you get into a ship battle not even low graphics can save you and a lag attack is unavoidable.
Multi player is a great addition to the game and It is a great way to level up your home city if you know which people to verse. If you just go and fight anyone it is very easy to get frustrated and loose many times against the same person.
The game play is very good if you like a game where you can explore. In the beginning of each match you have an adventurer and he can explore all the land on the map you're on and encounter many surprises. Battle mode can be a little unrealistic because you see a person surviving when a cannon hits him or he gets shot three times.
All in all Age of Empire is a very good game and is easy to adapt to. It is also easy to make friends on multi player and also great enemies.

Customer Review: Feels unfinished (other than graphics and sound) Summary: 3 StarsAOE3 provides some breathtaking graphics for a RTS game. The home city concept is a nice twist, but not really a game changer. The overall game mechanics are nice, and the first few games are entertaining. I especially like that villagers don't have to manually deliver resources to a town center or warehouse.
Now for a list of the bad:
1. The AI seems to be hit-or-miss. Sometimes AI will generally feel something like a human player. Other times, it's completely senseless. For example, several times I've noticed an AI ally deploy troops to an enemy island. They'll attack the immediate units/building then just sit there for the rest of the game. And this is when the AI is on expert.
2. The balance between ships and land units seems off to me. I often see large powerful fleets decimated by a small group of field guns or other artillery.
3. The game options are lacking. You can only have a max of two teams. There's not really any in-game diplomacy. There's just not much you can do to customize in a skirmish game.
Overall the game is fun, but the lack of customization options leads to little replay value. And other than current gen graphics and sound, there's not much to find here you can't get elsewhere.
Customer Review: good game Summary: 5 StarsFun game for one or on the local network. On line sucks. When i try to get a same level game on line i can tell the compation is not at my level. They are way above my level even though the system selected them as being at my biginner level.
Customer Review: The New World Summary: 5 StarsExcellent graphics right down to the exploding structures, falling leaves and bored soldiers. You do not have to spend as much time micromanaging your economy as in previous versions. The emphasis here is on combat and exploration.
I found the maps claustrophobic compared to the gigantic maps in Age of Empires II. It takes some getting used to, but once you do Age of Empires III is very bit as intense as the earlier versions.
If you are new to Age of Empires, you will probably find it tough going at first. There is no learning campaign as in previous versions. The tutorial is very limited in scope. However, there is a "sandbox" setting and a handicapping system that lets you experiment in relative safety until you know your way around. The early campaign scenerios are fairly easy to get through. Expect some frustration at first until you learn how to co-ordinate your efforts.
If you enjoy a challenging strategy game with a little history lesson thrown in, you will enjoy this game. Age of Empires III does a good job recreating the feel of the time period.
If you have Windows Vista, expect some installation problems. Download and install patches manually rather than relying on the in-game updater.
