Video Game Reviews of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire DividedCustomer Review: Star Wars Supporter/Fan... Saddened by SOE Summary: 5 StarsLike many people who joined the game back during the first beta test I walk away from the game deeply saddened by what SOE did to destroy what was once the best online game around (argueably). Like many people, I devoted much of my real-life time to grinding, exploring, and playing a difficult game to master and appreciate. I have read many of these reviews and enjoyed getting a laugh from several people who tinkered with the game in playing then quit because it was too "hard" or not "thrilling" enough. It is clear from the reviews many people found Star Wars Galaxies too "something". Well, it sounds like excuses, but everyone is certainly entitled to their own experience whether good, bad, or indifferent. I walked away from this game shortly after the NGE release. I vented my frustrations to SOE via both the in-game form and through the forums, to no avail. Star Wars Galaxies once boasted a thriving population of over 250,000 active accounts worldwide. Without knowing the exact number left I would speculate by saying that if half remain they're (SOE) doing well. This game was without question (once) a game well-worth playing. It has been reduced to nothing short of a complete debacle. A game that now rewards the first-time user of becomming a Jedi without spending time playing the game. So, before you become enamored with the advertisements of playing this game read ALL the information. Remember to set aside $15 dollars a month and try to understand this is NOT your character it is the property of SOE who can at will change the very game you are playing to fit their needs. Do you like typing? The new NGE "enhancements" preclude you from using your mouse or joystick, but require you to type. If you must own this game buy it, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't live up to your expectations...
Customer Review: Stay away Summary: 1 StarsDo not waste your money on this broken product, awful customer support and general buggy design. Did i mention the very poor user interface?
Customer Review: The state of Garbage Summary: 1 StarsThat what pretty much describes this game. Pure 100% garbage, trash-junk how much junk when the orginal box set is now under $5 bucks that is pretty much talking volumes. The The Total Experience is for some odd reason now over $60. and the Star Kit $15. SOE can make all the changes they want, just they better not except people to put and pay for trash. There products are simply not worth the time, grief and grind time anymore. Once upon a time this was a very unique game-nothing but junk. The time for SWG is pretty much over-the only way that SOE maybe able to save this game, if they swallow there pride, there stupidty and go back to the orginal format, but that will create a new problem. For those who did it with the CU and the NGE assuming the game is around that long. Leave it to SOE to put themselves into a catch 22 either way there going to lose.
Customer Review: A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Summary: 1 Stars...i played THE best (not one of the best) games i ve ever seen.
I ve buyed Star Wars Galaxies (made a mistake- looked for another game) and decided to test it, cause i am the biggest Star Wars fan alive (I know, every one of u think that of yourselves :-) )
I loved that game from the first second i played it, and i played it with lots of fun till the "Black Day" 15th of november...
Unfortunately SOE decided to make some "inovative changes" and changed the whole game. Now there is not a bit of fun playing it, i tried, but i am sad about the result SOE gained with that changes... I am not up to the point canceling my account, cause i played over 1 and a half year, and had lots of friends in the very exciting community in a very exciting game. Now 80% of them are gone and i am sure, my account wont live longer than 2 months from now...
Let me give YOU a very honest tip: DONT BUY THAT BULK OF ****, BURNED ON A CD, AKA Star Wars Galaxies.... not until SOE changed their opinion and brought back the OLD SWG...
---There are no unhappy players in SWG--- (well-known SOE worker)
Customer Review: Crossing the lines of ethics... Summary: 1 StarsTo give you an idea of how bad this game is now...
I bought it almost 3 years ago for $80. You can now get a copy used for under $5. Sad VERY sad.
Sony has had to remind the community that, "(they) reserve the right to change the game to ANY degree, at ANY time and without reason." I never thought I would have to worry about a clause like that...Well I was wrong.
I played for almost 3 years. Everything I worked for in game was wiped away with their "New Enhancements". The game has been completely revamped...not even the same game I bought originally. The game is unstable, full of bugs so bad that you can't get past several missions, you get stuck UNDER buildings or inside objects, the animations often mess up, specials only fire about 1/2 the time, Some force powers just don't work at all,...the list goes on.
The revamp came because the previous game had a hand full of minor bugs. Instead of fixing them they decided to revamp it and repackage it in an attempt to, quite honestly, gain more sales. In my opinion what they have done crosses the line of good business ethics and morals.
They insist that the changes are good for everyone...judging by the light and very light servers "everyone" didn't want THESE changes. IN FACT the community forums listed many great ideas on fixes and great directions for the future of the game. Most of those people are gone now.
BUT PLEASE if you have read these reviews and you STILL want to try it..WAIT. Download the free trial first. Don't waste your money here.
***Keep in mind any progress you make made be wiped away at any time with OR without reason.
