Customer Review: I feel like I am back in the late 1980's!!

I can't believe the format of this game. Unless you have a joy stick, it is very difficult to play. I thought using the key board to move a character went out with the the King's Quest games (even as old as they are, they are easier to play than this one). Even my 13 year old granddaughter found it difficult to move the characters. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't have any trouble installing it. I also think the graphics are pretty good. All in all, I was really disappointed!!P.S. If anyone found a way to use a mouse on this game, please let me know.

I fell in love with all the 'Monkey Island' games, especially 'Curse of Monkey Island'. On Christmas morning, I was ecstatic to find 'Escape' waiting for me under the tree. The game's graphics are awesome, and all the animation is very smooth. The voice acting is superb, and the soundtrack is phenomenal. The backgrounds and characters are lush and extremely detailed. The storyline is intriguing and captivating. I loved the way past characters and locations tended to pop up. Of course, the game's not quite perfect. Once and a while, 'Escape' tends to get a little choppy and slow. I usually experienced these problems if I played for more than 45 minutes or so at once. Also, the game is very short and comes with a walkthrough (D-U-M-B idea). These two factors greatly take away from the experience of the game. I couldn't help but cheat when I was stuck (I have very little willpower).
Overall, the game was excellent, but not excellent enough for a perfect score. I really think it deserves a 4.5, but of course I can't.
Anyway, I definitely recommend this game to die-hard 'Monkey Island' fans as well as newcomers. It may be a good idea to wait a few weeks though, prices on these things go down quickly.

This game is so good. However, I felt a little disappointed because I expected better graphics. The jokes have made me laugh so many times. If you like the previous version (Curse) then you must love this new one. By the way, it's important to note that a 3d graphic accelerator card was supposed to be needed, but I have seen this game running smoothly on computers with generic AGP 8MB video cards. I even didn't note the difference between the graphics on my computer (TNT2 Riva 32 MB) and some friends's computers (those generic non-3d accelerated cards). So if you are interested and you don't have a 3d graphics card, I recommend you to download the demo and judge by yourself if you can play EFMI or not. In my opinion this game is excellent, but it's not better than the previous version.Customer Review: Dont bother with this one

We spend 2 days trying to make this game run on our system. Now it will but its very slow and full of bugs. The fact the game comes with a troubleshooting guide that is about 100 pages long should all tell us something. At Lucasarts website there is already an update you have to download in order to make some of the parts of the game work ( they call it minor problems..LOL). The controls are sheer horrible and the 3D characters look and move terrible. I agree with many others that they have been rushing this one to get it out in time for christmas. All in all a huge dissapointment. After all I am a huge MI fan and my heart skipped a beat when I saw they were coming out with another one. But now I wished they had not. I was amazed... stunned... and schocked by this latest installment of Monkey Island. The graphics are terrific (not to mention the cutscenes), and the plot is funny and twisted. Guybrush gets us again with familiar run-on jokes and hundreds of new ones. The first part of the game is dissapointing for a long time fan... mostly because Melee Island has locations omitted and stores and shops moved around... but the puzzles are easy there and you'll soon be whisked off to Lucre Island, Jambalya Island, and Monkey Island, which are totally amazing. LucasArts also takes us back to the insults, we do a little insult armwrestling, insult swordfighting, and insult monkey jibberish! Buy it today and see if you can ESCAPE FROM MONKEY ISLANDtm!
