Video Game Reviews of Star Wars Battlefront II

Customer Review: Hey Lucas!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I say ala comicguy on SImpsons longest. install. ever!!! It takes almost as long as the battle that destoyed Mon Calamari, No, peo-ple it wasnt in teh movies its from the EU and the EU IS part of SW Peo-ple!!! The destruction of the Mon Calamai is one of the saddest events in SW, but no body talks about it much anymore!

Customer Review: The Original Versus the Sequel
Summary: 2 Stars

As good movies are award winning and loved by the fans while their sequels often lack the genius of the original, the same can be said about the follow up to the Best selling Star Wars game Battlefront I. Sure the game is fun; it has a lot of new wacky things do to in new maps with new characters and now heroes to choose from. You can be a Jedi, fly an X-wing in space and wreak havoc on a Star Destroyer -one of my all time wishes to do as a younger kid after seeing the Star Wars Trilogy for the first time. I myself also found the game a good stress reliever to take a Jedi and completely "maul" down the field -so to speak. However, there are just some things I didn't like about it.

First off, the quality of play isn't as good as the original- in my personal opinion. The original battlefront required some strategy, plotting of your next move and which unit to select for example. Battlefront II (BFII) lacks this: all I did everytime I played was select any ol' unit, kill a few enemies here and there, select a Jedi, mow the field, the end. Of course, as mentioned, that's a great stress reliever. However, I just liked the game grind and long term fun I have with Battlefront I.

I also lagged playing some maps in BFII due to the mass amounts of added and unneeded foliage and brush on some maps; there was just too much detail for my computer to handle. You can select your options to tone that down a little I suppose, but it shouldn't be that way, not on a computer that can play Battlefront I lag and glitch free. I couldn't even play four maps because they'd either lag my computer to a memory consuming submission, or glitched up the screen completely, unable to recover without a total shut down and restarting of the computer.

I noticed how every map was redesigned or added in to decrease the time of play: some paths of older maps were shortened or eliminated, a lot of maps include small tight quarters in which enemies will quickly just kill each other in a flash, etc. I just enjoy the war-like atmosphere of Battlefront I, a wide almost epic surrounding that truly represents battles from the Star Wars movies. Battlefront II didn't quite capture that as well as the original did.. So, if you like shorter battles on smaller maps with way more Grievous-slicing-down-troopers-with-four-lightsabers chaos, and you have a computer capable of handling the mass graphics without lag or glitchy problems, go for this game.

I wonder at times: if I saw a sequel to a popular movie, not as good as the original, before seeing the first movie, would I think the same way? Battlefront II IS fun, but I'm just more of a lover of the classics that I'm already accustomed to, that's all.

Customer Review: SWBF vs SWBFII and PC vs Console
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a wonderful game that I got after playing it at a friend's house. If you've been reading some other reviews, you probally know all about the jedi (plus), space battles (plus...I guess...), and the planets taken off (MINUS). When I was going to buy this game, the two big questions were (a) BF1 or BF2 and (b) PC or Console?

BF1 or BF2?????
Battlefront I has the old maps and the lower price, but personally, I think that BF2 is worth is for better online play, heros, space, and graphics.

PC or Console?????
-The one(s) with internet get a plus.
-Console: You will get the beautiful splitscreen mode that has hidden itself from the PC...also a nicer menu w/ scenes from the movie. The PC one looks slapped together a bit. Also no worries about PC stats.
-PC: If you are a fan of programming like me, BF2 has some great mod tools out to make your own maps, mods, etc, without having to hex edit. Also, you can download user made maps from the internet.

Hope this helps.

The game is fun to play but beware of the disk protection. Securom gave me a very difficult install process.

Customer Review: Epic Star Wars Battles and the Classic Heros Make This Game Really Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this game about 2 months ago and became addicted. There are two modes to this game there is a career mode where you are a decorated member of the 501st. This is an elite regiment of soldiers. In this mode you go around to different planets and settle conflicts and eliminate the rebel alliance or the driod army CIS. On Coruscant you get to eliminate the jedi order you know execute order 66. The other mode is more of a strtegic deal. You build armies and recruit members and conquer planet by fighting the empire. Give your troops extra ammo or health or a turret when you capture a command post. Some of these places include Jabba's Hut, Hoth, Coruscant, Dagobah, Mustafar, Endor, felucia, polis massa, the rebel ship tantative 4, and even battle on the death star. Some of the heros include Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Emperor, General Grievous, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Yoda, Mace Windu, K-AI-A mundi, Ayla secura, obi wan, han solo, princess leia, luke skywalker, and the very talented wookie chewbacca! The levels are really cool nice landscape you can change the graphics resolution and settings depending on your computers performance. Also if your a computer geek like me and have a 5.1 setup on your computer then you can choose different audio modes 4.1, 5.1, 6.1 7.1 modes. This is really cool because you can hear people shooting behind you so you know whoose shooting you. The sound effect are phenomenal. Be prepared to have a 64MB graphics card or greater to play this game i play this on a Nvidea GeForce 4 6500 128MB and an ATI Radeaon all in one 9600 128MB. I play this on a 950mhz AMD athlon and a 1.6GHz Pentium 4 and both run fine. And make sure you have at LEAST 512 RAM. There are really cool multiplayer parts to this game if you have a high speed internet connection then you can play with up to 64 people in one place which is really fun. I have to admit there are some glitches in the game where you can get into walls and pretty much shoot anyone you want to without them seeing you. The patch that LucasArts put out dosen't really doanything it just takes up more space that i can tell. But luckily you can boot people for cheating and make passwords to join certain rooms. Also antother cool multiplayer thing is LAN (Local Area Network). If you have 2 computers at your house that can play this game and they are connected on a router then you can battle each other. (This will keep the kids busy). Another cool thing is the ability to chage classes on the battlefield and there are droids to heal you and give you ammo. also the tanks are awesome especially the ones on hoth.but beware of slicers. The engineer class can slice into vehicles and that kicks you out of them. You can pick your own levels and settings about play them on the internet or by urself at home. Anyway this game is really fun and also trying to make a backup copy is really tricky and most of the time wont work BEWARE PIRATIERS!!!
