Personally, I like games where you are saving souls from damnation. This one, you've got a lot of souls (and a lot of repitition) to redeem of their evil deeds. What I liked most was the depth you could go into each soul, sins and victims. The seven deadly sin rooms provide a great backdrop visually and aurally (but again, repitious). The story goes like this: A talented singer, Angel, makes it to superstardom and collapses during a concert, waking to visions of the destruction of the world. You are an unnamed redeemer of souls, trying to make your way through a very small "town" while you get short clips of Angel interacting with an omipotent entitity that has possessed her.
You redeem souls by taking their totem item and colored spheres to the sin room that matches their sin. Easy right? Not so. The souls chase you down when you get their totems and can curse you by stealing all your totems and/or spheres, sending you back to a random location, leaving you so cursed that you have to cleanse/redeem yourself or all of the above!
All that said, the downside of this game is the repition. I have never understood why souls that acknowlege their redemption come back again in the next level to be redeemed again. This completely killed the replay value of the game for me. I've played it twice and will likely never play it again. There is no gore, no violence, no real excitement. Unless you are a fan of running back and forth in a small world, picking up things you've picked up before and hearing the same lines over and over, buy another game. Great idea for a game, poor application of that idea.

Description of Of Light and Darkness: The Prophecy
Judgement day has come for Earth, and time is running out. As the Chosen One, you are the only thing standing between the human race and an apocalypse. Saving the world in Of Light and Darkness: The Prophecy primarily consists of redeeming apparitions, ghosts of people who--in life--committed one of the seven deadly sins. The apparitions were summoned by a Dark Lord named Gar Hob. After 29 successful redemptions, you face Hob himself in a face-to-face showdown.Of Light and Darkness poses some tricky problems and has one feature not usually seen in first-person role-playing games: players are running against a clock. Failure to redeem apparitions on a tight schedule brings on doomsday with alacrity. As a result of this deadline, the game has a repetitive element. Once you understand how to redeem apparitions--a fairly complex procedure--the action moves swiftly. The level of difficulty does not remain static, however, because apparitions become increasingly dangerous. Though the stakes are high, the grim tone is leavened with stunning graphics and random witty touches. (The movement icon, for example, is a pair of mismatched socks.)
Winning this game takes dedication and quick footwork, but players will enjoy racing the Clock of Judgement to the final confrontation with Hob. --Alyx Dellamonica
