Customer Review: Once upon a time when games were creative....

A game came out for Dos call Carmageddon. Who could have thought that racing could be so fun? Mad Max and Die-Anna and you driving everywhere in a well detailed and varied enviroment, splashing the Ped(eststrian)s.Running up and down so many streets allowing for so many possibilities for ambush, for smashups and goodhearted mayhem.
And for those veteran players, remember the excitement when everyone was waiting for a promised 3dfx patch?
Carm2 was also well done in the same spirit, but unfortunatly Die-Anna was gone and Max was now polygons rather then a flesh and blood actor in a cutscene role.

GTA can't touch this! Easily the game with the largest body count ever! If you're the type of sick bastard who'd enjoy squealing your tires on someone's internal organs, this game is for you! I first played it almost 10 years ago and I still occasionally pull out its old, dusty box and enjoy some unholy mayhem. Nothing made before or since has such realistic, yet enjoyable, driving physics. Nothing made before or since is as good of a way to blow off some steam!Customer Review: I blame this game fo failing high school! It's the BEST !!!

I love this game. It's an underated arcade classic. And judging by the lack of reviews of it on this site, underappreciated. Maybe it was due to bad press. I know here in Australia they bad mouthed this on current affairs shows saying it encourage violence and road rage. Either that had a bipolar effect on the sales, I don't know, high or low??? Anyway this game made me fail high school because I kept on playing till the wee hours of the morning. Pure and simple - its a basic simple arcade classic with a simple concept and state of the art graphics. I love it, as without a doubt, it my favourite game of all time. Carmageddon is an excellent display of software writing. There is tremendous attention to detail, everywhere from the twisting of metal on cars that you are running into, to the splatter of guts as you run over a pedestrian. It is perhaps the bloodiest game ever made because it mixes the reality of driving a car with the freedom of being able to do whatever you want when you are behind the wheel. If you want to hit an old lady with a walker at 100 mph while honking your horn to alert her so that she can cry out in fear with the realization of her impending doom--you have carte blanche my good man. It is an excellent catharsis, and I greatly recommend it. My only beef is with the third level of play. I can beat the first two levels but the time limits on the third level are too short to really have any fun. ...you should consult a psychiatrist. Carmageddon is perhaps the closest game to the ones the anti-violence groups decry. To say that it has questionable content is a gross understatement. There is blood, gore, and you get points for squashing people with your car. The language is vulgar and caustic. If you play this game to "blow off your steam" and you imagine your boss, or professor in place of one of the poor victims, I hope you don't live too close to me.However, if you play this game for the fun factor of high-risk driving rather than murderous instincts, you will discover a very potent racing game. The cars, parts, and other options are numerous and the objectives require great precision and accuracy. Try this game out if there is no one around who may be offended by the profanity your computer will spew into the air.
