Video Game Reviews of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Customer Review: Fun, but not for me.
Summary: 2 Stars

I played this game for about 2 months. It was kind of fun. I suspect if you have ever enjoyed playing WoW(which I have only played the trial and hated it, because there was no pvp strategy) you might really like this game.

Pros: Huge world to explore and have fun in, easy to find and join parties that are doing public quest, you don't have to farm for gold all day to buy decent items, good variety in class selection, and you can pvp to level up.

Cons: tMost important to me is there is not enough strategy that comes into play for the pvp realms, there is some strategy, but it is not complicated and does not require team work as much as it requires people being able to spam their skill bars. The world is too big for me personaly I don't want to waste time running around on a computer screen all day every day for a few months just to explore the entire warhammer world, game colors are dark and depressing, you are limited to unlocking very few skills every time you level up giving you few options in strategy for outsmarting an oponement of the same level, and I don't like putting so many hours into reaching the top level(40).

If you are more interested in pvp strategy and simpler betting looking game play I would suggest trying Guild Wars. There are probably other games as good as guild wars for pvp and user interface, but i haven't played any of them yet... you may let me know if you know of any I should try, just please make sure it is a faster paced RPG that I can put a little bit of time into and still enjoy.

Customer Review: PVP delight
Summary: 5 Stars

This game really shines in PVP. Overall its an easier game for a player who does not have a major guild to assist them. Its not as deep as World of Warcraft, but it does not require the (over the top) dedication that WOW requires.

Customer Review: As expected, completely engrossing

Short review from an old DAOC veteran (400 days played):

Yes, Mythic dumbed down the interface to match WoW. Yes, Mythic made PvE much more fun. Yes, this game friggin rocks.

No for the bad news: RvR is too instant. In DAOC the process of dying, releasing, porting back to the frontier keep, getting the group back together, buffing up, that allowed some time for the battle's victors to achieve an objective. It was good for the game flow. With Warhammer Online, they have all but removed this delay and battles never seem to get anywhere. Admittedly I did not play long enough to get into "big boy" RvR, so that may be more mature. A journey through "real" RvR land was certainly impressive with the siege weapons and stuff.

Anyway I had to quit playing because my wife could see the writing on the wall and did not want to live through another 4 years of me addicted to a MMOG, and I have kids now, so I had to make the difficult decision of uninstalling the game. Believe me, I did not want to. *Sigh*

Customer Review: If Dark Age of Camelot, and World of Warcraft had a baby, this is it!
Summary: 4 Stars

War is a good game, and has some nice aspects. I personally already canceled the account but it wasn't because I didn't like it, but because I am not finding the time to play, and I don't see why I should pay for something each month where I only get a chance to play maybe a day or two total. So until I have more time to play, then I will put this game away.

WAR is similar to both WoW and DAoC. Of course this is my opinion, and I have played both of the other games before to base my opinion on. I actually have played DAoC since it came out (just recently stopping my subscription, due to time restraints) and I gave WoW a chance as well.

War is a good game if you can find groups to play, because you can't do all the quests alone. There are public quests, and then PvP (Player vs Player) Scenarios. They are all very entertaining. I achieved level 10 on a Disciple of Khaine (combat healer--destruction) and level 6 something else which I can't remember off the top of my head at them moment. :)

Anyways good game if you got the time to dedicate to it, to justify the monthly fee to play.

Customer Review: Total RVR mayhem!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I am having fun again with Warhammer Online it is a great game if you like Realm vs. Realm but it is not for those who want to grind through levels. If you want to go against other live players and test your skills in combat then this is it. You can level quickly while battling in RVR and that is what I was looking for. Make sure you have a powerful PC or you won't get the full experience.
