Video Game Reviews of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Customer Review: Good, PVP ia fun
Summary: 4 Stars

PVP is what this game is about, and it does it well. IF PVE is your thing (and it is mine) then something else would probably be in order. that being said, it is a good game and worth checking out for the fun stuff it has. Not quite what i as looking for.

I played EQ and was trying to recapture something i experienced with that. the genre has changed... To me Its funny to die and be given bonus experience for being killed by a specific race of enemy.

Customer Review: boring game
Summary: 3 Stars

well, I subscribed this game for 2 months and quit before the subscription ends. if you compare it with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, this game is nothing, will get tired of pvp very soon(pvp is the fastest way to gain exp, so probably you'll join the pvp scenarios a lot), quests are too easy and short(kill a few quest mobs then turn in, running back and forth, wasting time). Very easy to earn platinums in this game if you know how to play the market, I got over 1k plats in less a month. You guys will get a lot of spam messages from gold farmers in game!~ >< Highly recommand you to play Vanguard: SoH if you are a fan of MMORPG's, it has far better quality than this game!~

Customer Review: Was a promising game
Summary: 2 Stars

At release I played this game for about 4 months but no longer play. I previously played both World of Warcraft and Dark Age of Camelot for several years each.

Pros: Some very innovative changes in the game versus older games. I mostly only played the shaman character which was great for soloing, group PvE, and PvP. And healing gets you points/ranking in PvP - finally, a little credit for the support characters! Crafting was also a bit fun (apothecary, cultivating) which was never the case in other games. PvP scenarios are fast-paced and fun, and while I never played long enough to do actual RvR, my fiance who still plays really enjoys it.

Cons: The system requirements are relatively high. I think the graphics and game structure in WoW is very comparable but WoW had much lower system requirements (as of the first expansion when I stopped playing THAT game). On my current setup, I could play WoW (raids) nearly lag-free but it turns into a slideshow trying to PvP in WAR. My fiance spent $500 upgrading her system, which was similar to mine, just to play this game. No thanks. I don't think that the software was very "efficient" in DAoC and again, I don't think it is very efficient in WAR either.

In fact, this was the first game that I ever bought that was ONLY on DVD and no CD-ROM option. I don't even have a DVD drive in my computer so thank goodness I was still able to play the live game on my beta test download software. Yes, DVD drives are cheap now..but...just sayin'.

At release it is expected there will be bugs. Well, there were MANY bugs, and they were not fixed promptly (Such as the big sorcerer "hula hoop" - I think they may have finally fixed that though). Developers: I'd prefer you delay release rather than quickly shove out a buggy game on the market to make your big money. If you lose customers early on, chances are most will not bother to check later to see if you finally fixed everything.

Another downfall: Leveling up is TOO easy to do solo. The public quests (great innovation) were awesome in the newbie areas then deserted later on. Most quests are soloable. But you would not find people grouping on a regular basis to tackle difficult quests. In order to excel at difficult end-game dungeons, you must have experience grouping in lower level PvE. Even being on a roleplay server, there was really no community, and nobody talking in the public channels. Which means it was hard for me to get to know other players, and therefore join a good guild. I'd rather join a guild I know something about rather than just accepting a random invite. The PvP scenarios were a little more chatty. I guess a lot of people learn about guilds and apply to them by going on said guild's forum/website, but that is not something provided by the game.

Customer Review: All bark and no bite.
Summary: 2 Stars

I've own this game since retail launch and have resubscribed 3 time to see if the game has improved over the course of several months. To me nothing has changed. Put WoW and Camelot in a blender and this is game will be the outcome.

Cons: The game is not fun. It lacks depth that most MMO's have. The "Tug-o-war backbone" is mind numbing and feels like nothing is ever getting done. There is still a lack of communication with other players. With everyone and their "me me me" attitude just drives you nuts. Excessive aggro's from baddies at lower levels.

Pro: nice graphics, a solid warhammer feel, endless PvP -- assuming it is your cup of tea.

Customer Review: Better than other's I've played
Summary: 4 Stars

I started playing MMORPGs back in 1997 with Everquest. Then, played World of Warcraft and now I'm playing Warhammer. There are many good things about this game that makes it superior for me. The RVR aspect is very nice even though I find myself frustrated with dying so often (my fault for choosing a squishy character). If you are more of a quest person, there are plenty of those along with tome unlocks (history finding and specialized unlock quests). Overall, I really enjoy this game much more than I did the other two I have played. There are many things to do to keep yourself busy.

Progression through the levels is sufficient and I don't feel like I'm spending an eternity in certain levels. The only negative aspect I can think of is not being able to have both Order and Destruction characters on the same server. You also cannot talk to someone of the opposite alignment, so if your friend is playing an Order character and you're in the Destruction, you can't really chat while playing.
