Video Game Reviews of Warhammer Online: Age of ReckoningCustomer Review: Worth it Summary: 5 StarsLove the game. It took a bit to ship. But everthing overall was great. Great customer service.
Customer Review: For the glory of chaos! Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great game. Since i love the warhammer and warhammer 40k universe, created by games workshop, i'm especially happy about it's release. Finally an mmorpg which uses that ip. The game has some interesting ideas like public quests and the tome of knowledge, and pvp is a lot of fun.
Customer Review: WAAAGH! WAR is a pvp winner! Summary: 5 StarsWarhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (or, more simply, WAR) is the most fun game that I've picked up in the last few years. It reminds me of the first few years of EQ1 and WoW, both of which I played for many years before eventually tiring of them. In my opinion, which seems to be reflected in its initial sales figures and very high ratings at all the major game magazines and blogs, WAR is the first MMORPG to come out in the last few years with any hope of seriously competing with WoW's success.
WAR is superficially similar to WoW, e.g., there are two "sides" (Order and Destruction) each comprising several races who are in conflict with each other. However, unlike WoW, WAR focuses on PVP (player-vs-player) play rather than PVE (player-vs-environment) play. From the moment you log in the game as a Rank 1 character, you can engage in pvp skirmishes, leading up to the ultimate pvp encounter -- sacking the opposing side's capital city. WAR also has some very nice PVE advances, including public quests (where anybody in an area can take part in a multi-stage encounter with computer-controlled "mini-raid" mobs and then share in the rewards, without any need to preform a "raid") and open groups (a simple interface for finding groups who want another player without having to wander around shouting "LFG!" for hours at a time). For those worried that they will be "ganked" by "griefers", the bane of pvp in EQ and WoW, pick a Core Ruleset server (the default), which limits pvp to clearly designated RVR (realm-vs-realm) areas. You can't (or, rather, will not want to) avoid pvp (rvr) entirely, since it is the fastest way for most people to level up and, frankly, the most fun (WoW pve is more fun than WAR, although WAR's pve is no slouch).
Last night, twenty people from my guild alliance (another nice innovation in WAR that lets up to ten guilds share an Alliance channel) rampaged through a couple of high level zones, overwhelming Order keeps and battlefield objectives, sweeping aside the weak humans and dwarfs who tried to stop us. It was a hell of a lot of fun, and did not feel nearly as "grind-like" as a lot of high-end WOW. So if you have any interest at all in organized pvp/rvr play in an RPG environment, WAR is the game for you. It rocks!
Customer Review: Not the game I expected Summary: 2 StarsI played this game for one month. While I had no problems with the classes of characters. I found the game play to be tedious. The quests are uninspired and the experience to complete them is minimal. Just before and shortly after launch they turned down experience from questing and from mobs you kill and this makes the game play slow down which is boring. I did not find enough RvR going on. And the PQ's only work if there are enough people around to do them.
The game itself is full of small annoying bugs, and it also has some pretty large bugs too. You need a higher end computer to run this. I am giving this game a low rating because it is not casual friendly. You need a guild or group on a constant basis in order to play this game the way it was intended to be played. Items are uninspiring and everyone looks just like everyone else. I canceled and will not be playing this game.
Customer Review: Yet another Great MMORPG Summary: 4 StarsBeen playing MMORPG for the last 8 years. Warhammer Online ranks at the top for its Player vs. Player battles. I'm not into the role playing as much as I am the epic battles and joining a group of friends online for a night of WAR. This can be a very fast paced game or you can take you time and enjoy all the great graphics, sounds and places this games has to offer.
