Video Game Reviews of The Sims Deluxe EditionCustomer Review: Fun and Addictive, but Sometimes Aggravating Summary: 4 StarsThis is an excellent sim game. It's actually simulation at its very best. This game simulates real life. You buy a house, get a job, build relationships, furnish your house, grow in strength and intelligence, etc. It's a very well thought out piece of software.
Here's my pet peeve (and it may be a user problem rather than a software problem!): Everytime I have a baby it gets taken away by Social Services! The baby cries and the lady shows up and takes it away. I can't get past this, so I can't improve my status. I also don't know what to do about the people in the other houses? That's not clear to me.
Be warned: when starting out, you will play this games for HOURS on end. Eventually you will tire of it, but until then, watch out!
Customer Review: TAKES UP COMPUTER SPACE!! Summary: 4 StarsMy mom one christmas got me the sims deluxe edition. Little did we know though that the sims takes up a lot of computer space. It made our computer super slow and it would freeze up a lot. If you choose this game, you should take caution of ,how much space in your computer you have.
Customer Review: LOOK OUT! IT WILL COST $10 MORE TO INSTALL!!!! Summary: 1 StarsThis rate form wont let you enter 0 !!! If you get the version we did for our little girl- the case version NOT the jewle version- THE SERIAL NUMBER IS INVALID!!!!! The game won't install at all. It is NOT just this game either, the Jewel verion of the MakinMagic Expansion pack has the same defect. EA not only KNOWS this, they CHARGE $10 TO FIX IT!!!! So if you want to run this game it will cost you more. In our case $20 more. The EA website REQUIRES you to give your personal information to AOL just to get customer service and then they DONT give you the valid code!!!!! So you get taken again. Their FAQ's and advertisements don't mention any thing about this at all- we read all 380-odd entries. Just to top it off EA assumes you are trying to steal from them and treat you as if you are and they "dont have any way to tell if the game is stolen or copied". Yeah they can look up your age, bank account, address, phone number, credit card number and compile a user profile on your kids but they cant tell if you got your game from Amazon. This is really lame.
Customer Review: Total Maxis Feel - Not Necessarily A Good Thing... Summary: 3 StarsBought this package a couple of weeks ago. I have spent a fair number of hours playing. It is certianly entertaining, but I disagree with those that praise this game as real-life simulation. I won't get into the many reasons why this is not the case (and I would never expect it to be), but perhaps the most important item missing is, it is really hard to be a bad person in this game. Everyone is supposed to behave and in fact behaves as a picket-fence, green-yard, nice neighbor.
To me, the biggest letdown of this game is that I developed the exact same feeling I endd up with when I played the multiple SimCity editions: After a bit of playing and putting everyone on the road to success, I find myself wondering "Ok now what." It feels a bit pointless to take 10,000 baths, urinate 50,000 times, and watch TV 15,000 times, just as in Simcity it was boring to watch your city live its own life after you were done populating the map and everything was thriving (a matter of time).
Customer Review: Best original Sim game! Summary: 5 StarsIf you've never experienced a Sim game, this is the place to start! Original and clever it will always be considered a classic!
