Video Game Reviews of The Sims 2Customer Review: Great Game Recommened from Someone Who Knows Summary: 5 StarsI have played The Sims, the original, since it came out and own all of the expansion packs that go with it. The original was great. But, when The Sims 2 was announced, I was beyond excited. The game more than met my expectations. If you were a fan of The Sims you have to have The Sims 2!
Customer Review: Such a cool game...you'll get easily hooked on it Summary: 4 StarsMy friend/co-worker brought this to work on a rainy and slow workday to pass the time. We made it so that our characters look like ourselves, which they do. It's amazing to see a virtual me. Also, we noticed that our Sims take on our real-life personalities which is both freaky and cool. I guess that's because we have to enter our horoscopes. I mean, my sims hand movements when she's bored are EXACTLY like mine. That is so amazingly cool! It took us a while to figure out how to play it (there are lots of symbols and stuff in the left-hand corner), but about a half hour later we all pretty much got acquainted with it. It's a lot like life, you have a house, friends, career, desires, and the like. Also like life, you have to make sure your sims bodily needs are met, i.e. hygiene, nourishment, and sleep. Unlike the real me, my sim constantly has to use the bathroom.
I have Sims Pets on PSP, which is nowhere as cool or as amazing as Sims 2. Sims Pets on PSP takes more time to load than to actually play. In Sims 2, you can make a virtual form of yourself and make you do something you don't ordinarily do. You can choose outfits to wear, ranging from casual, sporty, dressy, underwear, and pajamas. Currently, I'm a pickpocket, who oddly enough has to carpool to "work."
I only wish that you could minimize the window. You have to save and then quit Sims 2 if you need to do anything at the same time. In this respect, it's not easy to use if you're playing this at work.
I went on youtube and found out characters can age, marry, mate, and die. Also women can get pregnant and suffer morning sickness, and I also saw on youtube that men on rare occasions, especially after alien abductions, can too.
It's so cool, I just ordered the Sims 2 Deluxe on Amazon so I could enjoy the game at home. It's that good.
Customer Review: AMAZING GAME... SOMETIMES Summary: 5 StarsThis game is like a computer version of the board game Life, except so much more complex. I would sit and play it for hours and hours and hours, never even wanting to get off. It is fun and the graphics are AMAZING! I would suggest buying (in addition to the game) the Sims 2 Official Game Guide because it has really easy to understand instructions and even some money cheats.
Okay, so you start out creating a family (and let me just say that your options for clothes and makeup and hair are so much more complex than in Sims 1). You can have up to eight people in a family. There are only five different ages: toddler, child, teenager, adult and senior. But once you move into your house and you can start having babies, which turn into toddlers. When you are creating your family, you get their evryday clothes, formal clothes, undies, pajamas, workout clothes (only for teens-elders) and bathing suits. As I said before, the choices are amazing for clothes. You also choose what their hair looks like, makeup and everything. There are three neighborhoods that the product company has made for you: Pleasantville, Strangetown and another town that I forgot the name of. There are also pre-built houses but with only plumbing and no furniture. You can build a house for your family and you have no price limit. But if you build a house from ground up when people are living there, you're going to have a price limit. There is a lot of choices for furniture, too. It is easy to build a house with walls and easy to put flooring in and paint up. I just let my imagination go wild. You can build up to eight floors in your house but I suggest you have big floors to have room for your next staircase. You can even make your roofs different colors! (Though not bright colors like green and orange and yellow.) There are a lot of choices of different rooms: workout rooms, living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, etc. You can also categorize furniture by two "sections": different kinds of furniture like all of the different chairs or all of the different couches, etc. Or you can categorize it by rooms for example, all the dining room furniture, all the kitchen furniture and so on. This process is pretty simple and it is REALLY easy to find good furniture to fit yours sims "style."
Something that I forgot to mention above is that at the end of dressing your sim and doing their hair and stuff, you choose their aspiration. It can be money, buisness, romance, family or popularity. Their aspiration will depict on what their wants and fears are. So if you have a family sim one of their wants might be having a new baby or if you have a romance sim, a fear of theirs may be being turned down for a flirt.
Next you move your family in. They will try to adapt to their new home by looking around and "judging" everything. The first thing I suggest you to do is get all of the teenagers, adults and elders a job. These are the people that will bring home the money each day, so do this quickly. Also establish who is going to be the cook in the family. Have them make most of the meals so that they will get more experience and will be faster at cooking than others.
I hope I gave you an inside look at Sims 2. This is just the beginning. Have fun!
Customer Review: Best game ever. Summary: 5 StarsI am a self-confessed Sims addict. I fell in love with the Sims and am now a Sims 2 fanatic. Sell a little bit of your soul and buy this game.
Customer Review: A chance for a better life Summary: 5 StarsIf, like myself, you have failed miserably in real life, you will not find a better second chance at being successful. It took me a few goes to get the hang of it (my first character flunked school and became a male crack-whore with a stammer, before getting whacked by a mobster named Kenny la Monza) but before long you will find an entertaining surrogate-life that you can devote yourself to. The level of realism here is breathtaking. I was literally in floods of tears when my character got divorced from his wife, after the discovery that she had been working in the adult-film industry. Still, his drinking problem cleared up after he found peace with the church of Satan and he has recently developed a more meaningful relationship with his transexual son than I could ever hope for with Horace.
