Video Game Reviews of Madden NFL 08 DVDCustomer Review: More Bang for the Buck Summary: 5 StarsBeing involved in a football game from the quarterback's position is an eye-opening experience. This game gives the player a sense of the different pressures a quarterback must deal with, from the ticking play clock to the bull-rush of opposing linemen. Quick reflexes and elusive moves are necessary to avoid being sacked while trying to find an open receiver and completing a pass. To be successful at this game, the player must get intensively involved-and hit the showers when the time clock expires.
Customer Review: Good, but not great Summary: 3 StarsAs usual, Amazon was amazing with their service and e-mail updates. The game, however, is just an xbox port. And for some reason, the developers actually took features out of this version versus the original xbox release.
It's fun, but it'd be better to get a console version. If you don't have the money for a console, this version will due.
Customer Review: Madden 08 Summary: 5 StarsSon received this for Christmas. He loves it, wants to play it all of the time. Good value. We wished they would make Madden 09, but they are not (for PC).
Customer Review: Great Game Summary: 4 StarsThis is the first time we have purchased a Madden game, and I greatly enjoy it. The gameplay is relatively smooth, and usually works well with my computer. If you have a PS2 or 3, I would recommend you get Madden for that, because although the game works fine and is very enjoyable, it has frozen up on me a lot when playing multiplayer. I would also recommend that you get dual-analog controllers with the game, because it is far easier to play with them than using the keyboard.
I have a Geforce 8300 GS graphics card, and I run the game on Windows Vista.
Performance has been steady, and slowups have not been an issue.
The game was great overall, and I just hope EA decides to make NCAA Football 09 for PC as well.
Customer Review: For widescreen gamers Summary: 4 StarsI don't think anyone else mentioned that Madden 08 has widescreen support. They always neglected us widescreen gamers over at EA Sports, but they finally added one game with widescreen support.
The widescreen support in this game DOES work, and it works well. It's the last of the franchise for the PC but at least they gave it widescreen support.
The rest of the game is what you would expect: Not much has changed from the previous versions, a few minor additions here and there. As always, a good game of football.
I am not sure why they decided to use the last-gen version of the game for the PC, rather than using the version on the next gen consoles. If you didn't know already, they use the PS2 version of the game. Considering the computer can outperform any console in every way, it seems they would offer all the advantages to the PC.
The main feature of this new addition is the widescreen support. Since no one else mentioned it, thought it would be good to let us widescreen gamers know about it.
Shame to see you leave the PC Madden!
