Video Game Reviews of Black & White 2Customer Review: Good game but aspects that made the first game a step above the rest have been removed Summary: 3 StarsIf you played and liked the first one that dosnt meen that you will like this one. What made the first one stick out to me was the fantastic creature handling the game allowed. The second one removed alot of the creature things that made it so appealing in the first place. For instants the big creature battles you coold zoom in on and tell your creature what to do exactly. Besides things like that being removed the game feels like another plain RTS like all the rest. Thats why I didnt really warm to this sequal like I did the first one. The first one was made longer ago but the execution was far better than the second. They left the guide lines from the first one behind. Overall I was dissapointed with Lion Head for this but if you like RTS's with a few neat little perks then you will probably like this.
Customer Review: Not my favorite game Summary: 4 StarsThis game was enjoyable enough, but doesn't really hold my interest enough to go back to it. It lags a bit on my gamer PC, and has some minor errors, but all that aside, it just wasn't that interesting to me.
The game is of a good quality, and may be perfect for other gamers, so it is still worth a good rating.
Customer Review: Slow in the Beginning, but Picks Up Immensly ... Summary: 4 StarsAll right, I'm quite sick of seeing people hate on this game. I am addicted to Black & White 2. As soon as you get past the whole tutorial business, it's a free-for-all.
There are a couple problems. First, this game will not run on any old machine. It better be fast and have a good video card that supports pixel shading. The sound is good.
After installation issues, you get to the game. When you first play the game, the tutorials are extremely helpful. I first played the game on a laptop, and as stupid as the camera rotating sounded, I actually needed to know how to change the view with my fingerpad-mouse laptop. Learning completely how to interact with the world without having to refer to a manual I think is really good. When you replay the game, the tutorials seem redundant, but does anyone remember that the tutorials give you tribute in order to buy advances to your civilization? Now when you're trying to aquire 1,000,000 tribute to get the volcano miracle, every little tribute counts. So bare through the tutorials again and quit whining.
If you are the type of person that likes simulations (Any of the Maxis sim games, any from the Civilization series, for example), this game is highly addictive. I personally don't enjoy gore and violence every five seconds and appreciate the building the civilization part. You truly do get to control how the game goes. Plus, after you win a land, you can stay there as long as you like and grow that metropolis until the entire island is covered in your houses and buildings. It's obviously not a casual gamer type of thing.
Beating the game is a challenge, as it should be, but at the same time it is intriguing and fun.
I just was sick of seeing people give it such bad reviews. Leave Black & White 2 alone! Just because you aren't competent enough to complete this game or need to shoot something every five seconds doesn't mean this game is bad.
Customer Review: this game sucks Summary: 1 Starsnothing more really needs to be said.I'm running a 3GHz P4;256Mb ATI Radeon 9000 series PCI express video card and 2Gb of RAM and the game still hangs, lags and locks up on my computer. I tried uninstalling & reinstalling-same effect.DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
Customer Review: Very Disapointing Summary: 2 StarsVery disappointing! I bought the first Black and White for $50.00. There was no way for me to know that it was not compatible with Windows XP. I was so ecstatic to find the new Black & White 2 on sale. I popped it in and started with a sense of wonder. It was frustrating and took some time to get used to the controls, but I got past that after reviewing the tutorial. As I progress into the game I have become more disillusioned. It seems that the "evil devil" guy talks a lot more than the "guru monk good guy". Often the little stupid guru guy just kinda shrugs, while the devil guy tells you all kinds of things about warfare and exploration. Because I came into this with no experience, I thought it would be an equal thing between them. Obviously the little devil guy has most of the understanding, and so you end up doing his will. I really wanted to build a beautiful city of peaceful people, but so far, no matter how hard I try to be good, little messages show up saying "evil" when I do something. What a disappointment. I would not recommend this game to anyone who has children. The intent seems to be that no matter what you do, you are inertly evil. When children continually get that message, they will start to think of themselves as evil, and then fulfill that. Very BAD, single minded guys who created this bullsh_t. Also, even when you are working as hard as you can, you will get messages that the people are very unhappy. Very soon everything goes downhill. If you really want to make this work out for good, you have to continually save the game before you are damned to be evil. If you want a game that will easily make you an "EVIL GOD", you have the right one!
