Video Game Reviews of Black & White 2Customer Review: An Average Game... Summary: 3 StarsBlack and White had some great innovations that really set the bar for Lionhead. Black and White II has changed the paradigm, for better or worse.
My biggest complaint is the lack of multiplayer. A game like Black and white has such huge potential for fun, exciting multiplayer yet it is strangely lacking, despite the fact that the first game supported it. They must have gotten lazy.
Another mixed blessing is the gameplay changes. The creature is far less important, which some gamers will love. You won't need to micromanage him...and if you want to wholesale ignore him it won't much matter. Gamers who enjoyed that aspect will be dissapointed.
They have released a patch that enables you to skip the tutorial parts of the game, but that really should have been included in release...the most annoying part of black and white I was the stupid "this is how to move your mouse" section that you had to endure every new game.
Overall, Black and White 2 fails to really deliver. However, it still is an average game, but don't expect it to wow you at the same level as the first one.
Customer Review: Not Black and White 1: Not even close. Summary: 1 StarsAlthough I didn't play it much, I really did enjoy the first game. And this is not that game at all. The graphics have been slightly improved, but have created a much worse problem than bad graphics: horrible frame rate. The game lagged, and I am running it on a AMD 64 dual core with 1 GB of RAM and a 256 MB graphics card. The frame rate was bad enough to make the game significantly less fun. It also doesn't let you fool around nearly as much as the first game did, and from the moment you begin, you'll be bombarded with boring, repetitive tutorials. But that's just the beginning. Even without regards to the first game, Black and White: 2, is, simply put, a disappointment.
Customer Review: Gives you a killer headach Summary: 2 StarsI recently purchased this game for my new computer. What a let down! I played the first Black and White and really enjoyed it. I spent most of my time zooming in and out, tilting the view, and trying to select people/items involved in the game play. The tutorial part of the game is WAY too long, and the conscience characters are extremely obnoxious. You are not able to interact with the character nearly as much as I would have liked too. The game also runs very slowely, and I had serious problems with the graphics (during movies, especially). I would recommend sticking to the original version.
Customer Review: Beautiful frustrating fun! Summary: 3 StarsI think the graphics are great making playing more enjoyable, and yes it crashes ALOT which is very frustrating I lock up about once an hour and my equipment is decent. The First Black & White crashed/locked up alot on my system(s)and this one is just as bad which is disappointing because you'd think after 4 years and all the problems with the original they'd have fixed that! True, the AI and tutorials are moronic but I'm not playin to earn a PhD I'm playin for some nice simple fun and I got my moneys worth. But I do wish I could skip the tutorials dammit!
IMO Casual gamers will probaly love it for being pretty and simple but hardcore gamers will hate it for it's junky development and simplicity.
Customer Review: Black @ White 2 Summary: 4 StarsMy son is using a basic dell Deminsion computer to play this game With Windows Xp and has no problems at all. He was heavy into the original black and white game, and after this new purchase of this version he likes it alot!
