Video Game Reviews of NBA Live 2003

Customer Review: Online NBA FUN
Summary: 5 Stars

EASO is a new great feature. I bought this game in order to see the online play. Hope to compete against others.

Other than playing online, the game gets boring after some time.

Customer Review: It's pretty good
Summary: 4 Stars

NBA Live 2003 is pretty good. I wish it was more realistic though. You can play 12 minute quarters and get up to at least 160 points. There are also way to many fast breaks and dunks. This game is way better than NBA Live 2001, though. The franchise mode is great, the create-a-player options are awesome, and the graphics are sharp and better than any other game for PC. I reccomend this game to all basketball fans.

Customer Review: not as good as live 2000 but better than live 2001
Summary: 4 Stars

considering u can get from one end of the court to the other in 2 seconds flat, that kind of indicates where this game is headed. very fast paced, lots of monster jams! keep the difficulty level on all-star, the 3rd highest, for realistic AI and competition. the 1 on 1 feature is pretty cool also. online play is enjoyable but the 3 games i have played ended up in a blowout! but i was on the winning side during 2 of those contests, however. im borderline b/w giving this game 3 or 4 stars, but ill give it 4 because i enjoy playing it!

Customer Review: Great game with minor flaws!
Summary: 4 Stars

NBA Live 2003 is an excellent game for those who are basketball fanatics like myself. However, the game has several flaws that some of you may find extremely annoying and very disappointing. First of all, the pace of the game is entirely too fast and explosive! Even in a simulated exhibition game played at the superstar level, the pace of the game is still much too fast. For example, if I miss a shot and the cpu gets the rebound, the opponent is down the court in a spit second scoring on the other end. This is a result of unrealistic passing in the game, which I find very annoying. The cpu explodes to the basket and throws too many alley-opps in my oppinion. Fast breaks are just lightning fast! If the pace of the game was like that of Live '01, then this game would have been just perfect. It's also hard to get a rebound in the game. It seems as though everytime I miss a shot, the cpu gets the rebound and scores on the other end at blazing speeds. How is that being realistic?

Shot blocking is another annoying, unrealistic factor in the game. Each time the cpu blocks your shot, the ball blows out out of bounce almost every time. Now that's just too outrageous wouldn't you think? Stealing the ball is fairly difficult as well. Check this out...When a player runs down the court with the ball, it looks like he is hump-backed. It's annoying because they don't run upright. The ball handler looks almost cunning like. The game also lacks good camera angles. I don't know why EA Sports chose not to include the popular "wire" angle in the game.

Other flaws I've discovered about Live 2003 is the lack of having a referee present throught an entire game. Coaches are included, so why not include a ref or two? Sadly to say, but Live 2003 is NOT user friendly like it's predecessor, Live 2001. There are no drop down menus to provide you with quick access to teams, game strategies, and other options. Everything is click, click, click until you get to where you want. This is very frustrating and time comsuming. Another frustating thing I've discovered is that when you turn the instant replay feature off, replays still show.

Nevertheless, dispite the flaws mentioned above, NBA Live 2003 still remains dominant in terms of graphics and overall gameplay. Player, crowd, and arena details are simply outstanding! If you are a fan of rap and R&B, you will enjoy the games' killer soundtrack. I personally enjoy the flawless in-game sound effects of Live '03. It's like being at an actual game because the crowd is always into the game, player cut sequences are frequent, and the commentary is steady and less repetative. If your system has a powerful graphics card, sound card, and speakers, I can assure you that your NBA Live 2003 experience will be one filled with excitement, tension, and non-stop, crunch time action! I highly recommend this product to any basketball fanatic.

Customer Review: NBA is sort of the game
Summary: 4 Stars

... about your computer players make a 3 a good 90% of the time sometimes even if you block them i don't get it the other people on your team don't help defend although the players graphics look fantastic i usually play the Sacramento Kings and it's a very realistic game you can save it in a playoff or a season but not in the middle of any game which [is weak] i was very little impressed about this game
