Video Game Reviews of MVP Baseball 2004Customer Review: Play with the keyboard? Forget it. Summary: 1 StarsThis is pathetic. MVP 2003 was a decent game, despite some hinky bugs like fielders never facing home plate with catching fly balls, and some lame baserunning AI. But it was better than the 2004 version, especially if you don't use a gamepad, which I don't. If you're only using your keyboard, about 40% of the features of the game are disabled. Lame. Disabled features when using keyboard only: sliding, diving, leading off, most baserunning, directional hitting, and the fabulous "Big Play" feature. I can't believe they'd release a game like this.
Customer Review: Avoid This Game Until Controller Support Is Taken Care Of!!! Summary: 2 StarsUnless you have these controllers listed below..Avoid this game!!! Logitech Dual Action Gamepad Wingman Cordless Rumblepad Wingman Rumblepad Gravis Eliminator Aftershock Saikek P880 controllerSeems the option to configure your own controller has been taken out and only those few supported. Not about to shell out another $30 for a controller just because it needs to work on this game when i already bought a new controller few weeks ago The USB NYCO AIR FLO PC controller. Seems Amazon failed to mention that to us online shoppers that them few controllers was only supported. Well $40 wasted on this game because of a controller issue. Game looks great. Controller support stinks.
Customer Review: I may change this once I actually start playing... Summary: 3 StarsThis game looks very sharp. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play it yet because this game only supports FIVE controllers. Yes, that's right, 5. If you don't have one of the 5, you'll have to drop a few extra bones and pick one up if you plan on playing a live game.I myself don't have a problem with buying one, but I can imagine kids who want to play this that don't have a lot of money, they will be at a disadvantage. Hopefully this review will change.
Customer Review: great graphics....bad controls Summary: 4 StarsThis is an amazing game for the graphics. I have played this game for about 10 hours now. The computer graphics are amazing better, but there is a large downfall to the PC version. The PC version requires you to use a keyboard function(unless you want to buy the gamepad[between 15 and 70 bucks]). These keyboard functions are very hard to use and it is not possible to switch them. Some of the controls you can switch but the not pitch screen and running controls (which are the awful ones). NO, i am not just a noob who cant figure that stuff out, it actually doesnt allow you to change those keyboard settings. Here are my stats: Athlon 64 3000+ 512 Mb of RAM Radeon 9200Though i do have an old video card(i am planning on updating soon) i am able to run the game on pretty high graphics, and they are VERY clear and have no lag/stall issues. If you are looking for an amazing baseball game with amazing graphics look no further, but if you are looking for a game with easy to learn and use controls...well my only advice is buy a USB game pad, because this is by far the best baseball franchise ENJOY!
Customer Review: Great game w/ serious controller support issues Summary: 3 StarsOkay, so this game is awesome, except for one very important thing. That one thing is the ability, or lack thereof, to use most gamepads. This new version does not currently support the use of any Microsoft gamepads and many many others. So, if you plan on using your old sidewinder (as I was) you are in for a disspointment. Other than that, the game is as good as it has been advertised. I would recommend it to anyone with the reservation regarding the controller support. Hopefully enough complaints by others will be sufficient to get the EA team to provide a patch to support more gamepads.
