Fifa 2001 provides great excitement for the user. It has all of the leagues like the spanish and english leagues. You can play a world cup tornament, and use all of the International teams while paying in that tornament. You can play a season with any team you want. This game has great graphics. It provides player celebrations after goals, and yellow and red cards. You can custumize the teams uniforms as well as the players. You can make them have long hair, short hair, facial hair or no hair. You can change the skill level of the players to make them beter. You can change the game settings like the weather, the time of day, and how long the halfs are. Options for half lenth are 2 minutes, 4 minutes, 6 minutes 8 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, or 45 minutes. Overall it is a really fun game to play.Customer Review: Nice graphic is the only factor saving this game

OK, here we go, you are a real soccer player, right? So, of course, you want to control the game the way you wish to. This games does NOT let you do so. You have a BIG brain for soccer strategy? Throw it away, man! It will be so useless if you are playing FIFA 2001.My team was under pressure. A defender successfully kicked the ball away and it went straight to a forward who was facing only the goalkeeper. What are going to do in this sitiuation? I assume any sane player would hold on to the ball and go inside the box and score. BUT this game isn't made for SANE player because it will "help" your forward to do a volley shot right after the ball goes to him. And, as someone already mentioned, we have "superman" goalkeeper in this game who can easily save such a shot. The reverse is even worse! If your denfender receives an air ball, he'll NOT control it but shoot back right away to the goalkeeper and create some funny disaster consequence. So much for your "help", fifa, thanks a bunch.
Now, it doesn't matter whether you are Rivaldo or a nameless player, you will never be able to control the ball near the border lines.
And the worse part may be the referee (This defect still lasts until FIFA 2002, and FIFA WORLD CUP 2002). You may get the ball from a player then run for a few secs as if nothing happens, but who knows "the man in black" will call you back and give you a red card. If such a referee is present in a real soccer game, he might be beaten up right away
IF YOU ARE NOT INSANE, IGONORE THIS GAME, IT'S NOT WORTH A CENT.

Fifa 2001 is a great step-up from EA's previous Fifas. The graphics are better and the gameplay is a lot better. There are over 60 international teams and many leagues from European and North/South American leagues. They have all the players with their full names, and the players have life-like attitudes in the games. The graphics are smoother and there is a great improvement on the audio. Also you can play versus other people over the internet through EA's website. This is a great game.Customer Review: Like Pee Wee Herman KO'ing Mike Tyson!

First of all the graphics are...well, you've read the other reviews and know how good they are. You can argue that this edition is great graphically but there *is* room for improvement (sky textures, some lighting and large areas of some statiums are disappointing at times). But the player's look and movement are amazing! Better than any other edition; very realistic and fun to watch. My G-Force 2 pro handles them well. Now, the downside of FIFA 2001. The difficulty level of the gameplay is way too high when using a 4-button gamepad. I own the original FIFA, FIFA 1996, FIFA 1998, FIFA 2000 and now FIFA 2001. Every time I've bought home these footy games I'd set up a game with me as Brazil or England and the cpu team something (bad) like Peru. Well this time that doesn't work. The AI is too good even when the odds are *way* in your favor. I've heard talk of AI cheating and that is most certainly true. The cpu players seem too perfect no matter what country they are being modeled after. Seems the only way to get the blinking ball anywhere near the goal is to go with a long shot and hope one of your little guys is there to shoot it toward the goalie - who is played by Clark Kent in disguise (they are Supermen goal keepers who can stop nearly every shot even if they hail from Peru). To me these are nearly fatal flaws and leave me screaming at the screen in disgust. Now...if you have a 6-button gamepad then the odds tilt more toward the player than the cpu. Still, it should'nd be so difficult to beat a (bad) team controlled by the cpu even if you had a 2-button gamepad.
But my gripes aside, EA continues to make my favorite sports game of all time. For the budget-minded gamer FIFA 2001 is a better choice than FIFA 2002. Eventually, 2002 will be a better choice than 2003...

EA Sports has done it again. Building on the foundation of FIFA 2000, the game has been made greater that it's old ancestor. You can play in many modes, varying from a season, to the world cup. You can even create you own custom tournaments and leauges. The graphics are good and the commentary is good for kicks, though after some time they get repetitive. The controls are really easy to learn, but the advanced ones often are clumy to use and aren't avdvanced enough. Other than that, this is one heck of a good game! Get it.
