Video Game Reviews of Iron StormCustomer Review: Multiplayer Fun Time! Summary: 5 StarsGreat multiplayer experience...will leave you wanting more! I CONSIDER IT TO BE A GREAT INVESTMENT! BEST MONEY SPENT!
Customer Review: Well thought out storyline Summary: 5 StarsFinally a game that the story line was thought out. It was fantastic and the only problem with it was the start up and after the day long headache it was well worth the money(came very close to finding the trusty hammer to fix the problem). I didn't want the game to end when it did. Good butt kicking game!
Customer Review: Horrible. Simply Horrible. Summary: 2 StarsI thought the premise was interesting enough to warrant picking this one up out of the ol' bargain bin. That was a mistake. Save your money for something better, like, say, elective exploratory prostate surgery. Without anaesthetics. I wasn't expecting great graphics, or even gameplay, really. The engine is pretty dated, and doesn't look like it was that great to begin with. Enemy AI wasn't too bad- slightly reminiscent of Half-Life, the way they used grenades. What kept me going was the story behind the action- I was simply interested in seeing how it was executed, and how it would unfold. Sadly, IronStorm crashed to the desktop after fifteen minutes of gameplay, on the average- sometimes much, much more often. Maddening! Patching didn't help. I also found that patching it eliminated cheat codes and trainer access (I was playing for the entertainment of the story, not the twitchy shooter thrills). IronStorm still crashed all over the place. I gave up on the "alternate history" and thought I'd give the multiplayer facet a try. Interestingly, I didn't seem to encounter the crashes in multiplayer, but still found it incredible that the multiplayer spawns players with no weapon selected! You've got a crappy default pistol, but you have to always select it at spawn, or you're defenseless. Add that little gem to the usual mix of spawn campers on public servers, and it gets really irritating in a hurry. Bottom line: It had a lot of promise, but it's junk. Sorry, Dreamcatcher, you've published a nightmare. This game stinks.
Customer Review: Save your money Summary: 1 StarsThis is bar-none, the worst first person shooter I've ever played. The software was actually released with a catastrophic bug and won't start with out the download patch. Graphically, the game is weak and unimpressive. I realize that it's built with a new 3D engine, but still; I expected more. It's rated `M' but I really don't know why: the gore is quite tame. Game play is slow and the objectives are rather unintuitive (I was stuck a number of times and had to use an online walk-through). The storyline is weak at best and the ending was not worth playing for. I would suggest you save your money and get a better / more stable 1st person shooter. (For me, a couple great ones are; "Return to Castle Wolfenstien" and "Soldier of Fortune II".)
Customer Review: Iron Storm: Horrible Summary: 2 StarsI first heard about the game on a gaing website and thought it would be great. Basically, it's an "alternate-history" game where world war one has been raging for 50 years. When I finally got to Target and bought it, I was excited. When I installed and started playing it, I wasn't so excited. As soon as I started it, the game quit on me and went to the desktop! Aaaaarg!! I was finally able to get a good patch, but it screwed up all the movies! I wanted to give the game a good score, but the gameplay is awful. There is no life-meter so I can never know if i'm about to die or not. And it's so frickin hard!!! It's as if 1 guy can kill you with a shotgun if you're not quick. The only good thing I can say about it are some of the weapons. The game is really realistic. You can only carry 4 guns at a time, and 1 sword. The only thing about weapons I hate are that in some missions, you must drop all of the "good" weapons you have, like a sniper rifle and a machine gun or a rocketlauncher whatever. Here's a tip, always try the demo before you buy the game. I should've done that and saved thirty precious dollars.
