Video Game Reviews of Dracula OriginCustomer Review: How I loved sinking my teeth into this Enchanting game! Summary: 4 StarsI absolutely adored this game, it was one that kept me interested and challenged me to an extent that I thought I might give up. I loved this game but I did have a few minor issues with it. At first I bought the game just because it looked very intriguing I was beyond astounded on the graphics on the cover I thought "Wow this game will probably suck with the graphics at an all high" I started playing and noticed how I am such an enormous fan of puzzle strategy games! This game I played it for 2 days straight and beat it finished it. I hated the ending of the game, it was sort of a cliff hanger for me and I can't wait for the sequel.
Now I won't suggest this game to people who are very impatient or people who don't like a decent challenge. This game irritated me a few times for the puzzles can be very difficult to understand if you don't have an ounce of sophistication in yourself. Some people decided to use things like a walk-through [Which I will honestly say I did a few times but very little] but if you like to be challenged [and I do mean challenged some parts of this game can be very hard] then this is definitely the game for you.
This game was a bit short for me. This is one of the main things I would like to complain about. This game had a magnificent plot and the graphics stunned me. It can get a bit boring and cliche at times but overall it was good. If it was a bit longer I'd be magnificently jubilant, And overall completely satisfied.
Now for the reason I was disappointed, I didn't even bother to read the back or anything before buying it for that manner, because I thought I was going to play as the oh so magnificent D r a c u l a. This was not the case. You play as Dr. Abraham Van Helsing it was an alright journey with him but his voice irritated me to the point where I thought I would rip out my hair. His voice sounds stale to me but it isn't much of a bother after about an hour.
This game you have to think with but it's worth the money. I got this game at wall-mart expecting something incredibly stupid and got out of it a world where Dracula was the worlds worst nightmare and where it was Van Helsing's duty to stop the Vampire.
If you didn't like this game try the sequel, you get to play as Dracula next<3;
~~Again Warning this game is a cliffhanger;
Customer Review: Not what I expected Summary: 3 StarsMaybe I was misinformed, but this game wasn't exactly what I expected. I mean, it is a good game and all, since I love the whole point-click adventure type, but I think I was completely expecting something more out of it. It was more of a move from one room, solve a puzzle, then move to another and solve that puzzle, which is fine, but a lot of it wasn't even working with what was in your inventory. Rather, it was just staring at the screen going hmmmmmmm. While I did buy this game for the aspect of an horror, adventure-solver. I didn't go totally for the, hard-core brain teaser puzzle-type. Now most of the puzzles are easy, but some of them really, really will make you think, and when you sit down for a game like this, thinking like that, isn't totally what I had in mind. For goodness sake, it's Dracula Origin, not Portal.
Overall, a decent game though. If you don't mind an interesting story getting stopped by you having to figure something odd out for perhaps longer that you should have to. And, yes, that odd thing you have to figure out might appear not to be horror based at all, as much as the developer may try to make it seem to be. So staring at that kind of strips the horror element out of this horror world. I gave it a three though. If you like horror based games, point and click adventures, and brain teasers, then this certainly is for you. And now since you've been warned it's all these things, you may give it a four.
Customer Review: Finish in a day Summary: 4 StarsGreat graphics, nice atmospheric music, and not too hard. The Amazon Video contains a lot of clips from the cutscenes which are a small part of the game, and really the game isn't that action-packed.
After you finish the game you're finished and there are no unlockables unfortunately. But the game isn't so expensive now so if you like vampire lore you'll enjoy this.
I notice the game credits show lots of Ukrainian names which makes sense because Frogwares has an office in Ukraine.
Customer Review: Beautifully atmospheric! Summary: 5 StarsDracula:Origin is a beautiful graphic experience. You're immersed in environments that are moody, spooky, and somber and sometimes strangely and eerily and somehow inappropriately sunlit, too. (Sunny Cairo with monstrous activities hidden beneath the sand). We swish along with the quick- striding Van Helsing in his long black coat, running to keep up as he undertakes his complicated and arduous search for the Vampire. This is a three CD search, quirky,and unpredictable.
There are many colorful characters to be encountered along the way and as this is a point and click game you are going to be rummaging around in tombs, criminal lairs, subterranean pits, the cluttered Cairo Museum, selecting objects, some relevant and some seemingly irrelevant, that go in your inventory. Many artifacts require combining in ingenious ways. Some of the puzzles are easy, others are downright diabolical and I could not have gotten through the game without the use of a walkthrough.
The music is perfectly adapted for the various situations you find yourself in and the background noises will keep you sitting up pretty straight in your chair as this is not a relaxing experience, you are going o be looking over your shoulder if you play at night. The voice acting could be more exciting but the drama lacking in that respect is not a major hurdle against full enjoyment of the game.
Dracula: origin is a classy game. If you're an adventure nut, don't miss it!
P.S. This Dracula is much sexier than Bela Lugosi!
Customer Review: awesome game! Summary: 5 StarsI've been looking at this game for awhile. Not knowing if I could play it or not, I kind of hesitated on buying it. Recently, I was in our local Walmart and this game was on the cheap rack ($9+). I bought it. Boy, was I in for a surprise. This game is awesome. It is a huge adventure game starring my favorite villain. He's not in it much, but that was not an issue with me. Countless puzzles (some quite hard and required a walkthrough), graphics and soundtrack fitting to the game and a great story-line all in one game. Thanks to the developers for more than a week of thinking, cussing, more thinking, more cussing and keeping me entertained to the max!
