Video Game Reviews of UberSoldierCustomer Review: Hooray for a Steam-less FPS! Summary: 4 StarsUbersoldier is a decent First-Person-Shooter; made better due to the fact that I ACTUALLY OWN IT, unlike Half-Life2, SIN: Emergence and any other Valve Software controlled game.
For those who don't know: Steam is the new method Valve software has to monitor your gaming experience by selling you 1/5th of the actual game, then making you download the rest. To make matters worse, you have to ask Valve for permission to play one of their games by signing on on-line EVERY TIME YOU WANT TO PLAY THEM.
UberSoldier is a decent game with decent graphics and good game play, made better by the lack of police-state spyware like Steam.
So KUDOS to the makers of UberSoldier, for selling me 100% of the game - what I paid for in the first place.
Customer Review: Some polish would be nice Summary: 2 StarsThe gameplay was acceptable but that's where the positives end. The voice acting is the worst I have seen since the first games with voice overlay. It's odd that all the nazis seem to have some strange southern accent and don't at all seem interested in conveying any emotion. Character voice talent is flat and makes continuing the game very painful, mostly because you feel bad for the developer for putting out such a poorly polished product. Was there a storyline, I'm not quite sure but the characters sure didn't seem to care. They must have asked the janitors in the building to perform the voiceovers because they don't seem very interested in what they are saying. Loading times are excessive even on performance rigs and is somewhat crash prone. Just wait for something good to come out or replay something you already own.
Customer Review: It's fun to play, ignore the storyline Summary: 3 StarsI had no problems playing (3.0Ghz,1.5Gigs mem,Radeon9600). The story is bad! Real bad! The actors were reading a script and it showed. No german soldier speaks with a german accent. They obviously put this game out in a hurry. Models and shadows are pretty nice. At first I thought they were using the HalfLife physics engine. It felt similar. But if so, they didn't come close to taking full advantage of it. The energy shield is useful but not entirely needed. One could get through the game without using it at all. Parts are really tough, shooting planes down and shooting some germans (ubersoldiers) far away in the nighttime darkness. One annoying thing about it was that the AI would start shooting before you even came around the corner in some spots. This kind of forced you to use the shield. It is very linear, but aren't they all.
Bottomline: Fun to play if your like FPS, you'll finish it pretty quick. Storyline is horrible! But if your into re-animated soldiers from the dead falling in love this is the one for you. That was soooo stupid!
Customer Review: Great Game Summary: 5 StarsI played the demo and was not impressed. The actual game is a different story. The people complaining must have a low end PC, I had no trouble loading and playing. This is a must have for ths FPS fan. Highly recommended++
Customer Review: What were the game developers thinking? Summary: 1 StarsI have purchased & played many games over the years, and have had some problems installing or playing some of them. Usually, if there are problems the developer supplies 'patches' or 'fixes' but I guess there are exceptions. I have a PC that exceeds all the requirements needed to play this game but the game barely starts and freezes. I have all the latest device drivers and have uninstalled & re-installed the game multiple times, and have tweaked everything, but still it freezes. Many individuals are complaining on the web but the developers are ignoring us. Once software is opened it can only be exchanged, so we who are disappointed & feel ripped off have no recourse. Game developers such as this should be helping but they are not, nor do they seem to care. We who buy games will remember this, and will tell others. What are you developers thinking? Did you even test your product on multiple formats before marketing it? Such a good idea with good potential for an EXTREMELY poor product. AVOID THIS PRODUCT AS YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED & RIPPED OFF!
