Customer Review: Mediocre Action RPG with Bad User Interface Choices
Summary: 2 Stars

The Good:
- Graphics are good but not spectacular
- Character customization is very good with a lot of options

The Bad:
- Storyline is banal (in the first 4 hours, anyway)
- Tons of fetch quests with little or no plot
- Camera control is mapped to the scroll wheel and cannot be changed

I only played about four hours of Sacred 2. That's all I could take because the camera control is so cumbersome. The game uses the third mouse button / scroll wheel to enable free movement of the camera. This button is difficult to hold down on my mouse and made my hand cramp. If there was a way to change the mapping so that I could use the right mouse button for camera control (which is what I'm used to) it would be fine, but there is no such option. If there was full movement of the camera via the keyboard I could probably live with it, but there isn't: you can only rotate left and right (you cannot pivot up and down).

If the game had "grabbed" me I might have tried to work through these user interface issues, but the storyline was uninspired and the combat was repetitive and uninteresting. Some of the scenes were beautiful and the equipment and character progression was fun to play with, but that was not enough for me to put up with the camera control and I figured that if the story was trite at the beginning it probably would only get worse (most RPG's have great beginnings and only mediocre endings). Guess I'll have to wait for Diablo 3 - and hope Blizzard lets you remap the mouse buttons!

Summary: 4 Stars

A very fun hack n slash RPG with a main quest line, a character quest line, and a ton of side quests.

Customer Review: I agree with Andrew!
Summary: 5 Stars

Most of what I wanted to say is better expressed by Andrew's review. I will just add a few of my own points. This game can be played off-line, and in fact I found it much more enjoyable this way. The online version has some lags and as stated by others, some lobby issues. It was a bit frustrating getting the online version to play in Vista. A tip for Vista users, play in "administrator" on Vista, seems to be the only way to get on-line.

I have been playing this game for months. With six characters, both "good" and "bad", the play can be endless. After starting in bronze to feel my way through I quickly switched to silver and have played through the end with two characters. I find it beautiful, entertaining and the system for leveling up and item collection positively addictive. Try playing off-line, I think you will enjoy it much more as there doesn't seem that large an on-line presence for this game outside of Europe where I hear it is very big. I think you will find it just as enjoyable as I have.

I am a 52 year old granny who has been playing computer RPG since the stone ages when Sierra first came out with their King's Quest and Space Quest games back in the late 80's, early 90's. What a long way RPGs have come. I am constantly amazed at the beauty and sophistication, especially in a game like Sacred II which is visually stunning. (Make sure you have weather turned on!) Can't say enough good about this game which I have definitely gotten my moneys worth from!

Customer Review: No fun
Summary: 1 Stars

First, the DMR authentication process, requires you open port on your firewall just to even play the game in single player mode. That right to play in single player mode you need to ports on your firewall. Now if that part wasn't bad enough, when you run there current patch, it's fails. The instruction given by there support, is too, first delisence the product (over board DMR), then uninstall, then run a clean up agent. Shut down all running apps on your computer and reinstall. Then run a manual version of there patch.
This is awful design and bad programing. I would recommend avoiding ascaron and cdv all together as a whole.

Customer Review: Internet Connection Required
Summary: 1 Stars

An internet connection is required to play this game. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't have one. I got to play it for one day. I hope Amazon starts listing 'Internet Connection Required' in the minimum requirements for these games. My last game, spore, was the same way, no warning that an internet connection was required. I now have $100 worth of coasters for under my cups.
