Video Game Reviews of DiabloCustomer Review: Diablo is not an RPG, it's trash Summary: 1 Stars...I'd like to know what those people at Blizzard were smoking when they labelled this RPG. You select from 3 classes - only three! Fallout, released at about the same time, has a classless system where you could create hundreds of different characters from the start. Apparently the folks at Blizzard thought three classes would be enough. It isn't. So you pick the class - et voila you are finished. The game picks all the statistics for you. It then gets even worse. You are then dropped into a boring village called Tristram. You explore around a bit, and fid that your character cannot talk. You find that you cannot go into people's houses and steal their goodies. But it gets even worse... Overall, this game is flawed, I don't even consider it an RPG. Not to mention just how boring and repetitive it is. The single player campaign is only about 30 hours long, bur I still congratulate you if you had gotten through it even once. Not to mention that multiplayer is full of hackers and cheaters who don't do anything other than ruin your character. To sum it up: Diablo is trash. Goodbye.
Customer Review: An above average attempt at a RPG Summary: 4 StarsAfter the success of Blizzard's RTS games, Warcraft and Warcraft II, it was just a matter of time before they would evolve to different genres. The RPG was (and is) one of the most popular types of games out there. It seemed fitting to make a game like this, but does it play well? Is it worth it?The game has a simple premise, to journey to the depths of a labyrinth and kill the King of Terror, Diablo. Diablo has escaped from the confines of hell and is running amuck through the city of Tristram (sadly, the only city you can explore in the game). Not so surprisingly, it is your job to get rid of him and bring peace to the land. To accomplish this, the game gives you a choice of three classes of characters to choose from: the Warrior, Rouge, or Sorcerer. The storyline is linear, yet remarkably, its premise is actually quite good and has a nice twist at the end. The manual that comes with the game offers a great deal of background to the game's story, and truly shows that a great deal of time was taken into the plot. Graphics are good, considering that the game was released in 1996. The music is tolerable but can get repetitive at times, and of course you can turn it off if you really don't like it. Control is simple, really too simple; moving your character, attacking with your character, and using spells requires the use of only the mouse. The keyboard is rarely used, turning the game into somewhat of a click-fest. The repetitive gameplay with the mouse, repetitive music, and the fact that there is nothing truly extraordinary with the game may bore some; although RPG enthusiasts will probably enjoy it the most. Beside the before mentioned problems, the game also has some issues with the multiplayer feature. Although multiplayer through Blizzard's free online service, Battle.net, can be fun, it can also mean a lot of frustration. Due to the game's age, it is no longer supported by Blizzard, meaning that it's a hacker's paradise. From many people altering their character's stats to duping (duplicating) items, the online community for Diablo is in pretty bad shape. Despite its problems, the game is still a classic and has set the standard for many games today. Randomly generated Quests and randomly generated dungeons each time you play means a great deal of replay value for those who enjoy this type of game.
Customer Review: 5 Years ago it was a 5 star game, today it is simply quaint. Summary: 3 StarsWhen I first played this game 5 years ago I was blown away by its reality and detail. It was a RPG brought to exceptionally detailed life. Today's games have left Diablo behind, but I still never did manage to beat it with the Sorceror character who was just too darn weak. Despite its age, and "primitive" technology, this game is still worth its low price because it can provide a couple of weeks of entertainment before it is beaten. Diablo II is definitely worth getting after this one and has lots of terrific add-ons, and the WarChest is a great deal overall.
Customer Review: Great game Summary: 5 Stars...this is definitely one of the best games for the PC. True the sequel is better, but when this game came out almost everyone I knew jumped on it. I just bought it to see what all the fuss was about, and I found out in a second. It took me awhile to actually UNDERSTAND how the game works, and I didn't even go on the multiplayer for awhile because I couldn't understand that either. But now I do and this game is loads of fun, although cheaters in the m-p tend to ruin it sometimes.... so in the end cheaters are still a problem but not a major one. Multiplayer mode is more fun than single-player especially because you can team up on hordes of demons instead of fighting them by yourself. Not only that but players can duplicate their items for you, so you won't have to search around all time for better items like you would in single-player. The graphics and gameplay are extremely superb in this game, and the music and sound as well. ... GET THIS GAME AS WELL AS THE SECOND ONE ASAP!
Customer Review: fun fantasy. But, bloody, violent, and somewhat disturbing Summary: 5 StarsDiablo is a sweet RPG game with a terrifing setting. In this game, you play a brave knight who goes down to the catacombs and fight evil satan-like demonic creatures. This game is not for the seven year olds or the younger. So, if you kids at home are reading this review, don't ignore this because let me tell you, this game will honestly scare you. This game is bloody because you cut off arms, and, not to mention, in one quest, you find a guy sitting in a pool of blood. It is also somewhat disturbing because of the hell-like settings after you enter the under world.
