Video Game Reviews of Fallout 3Customer Review: Strickly to be used on an upgreded GAMING computer. Summary: 1 StarsI had a brand new supposedly gaming computer so I bought this CD. When it wouldn't play I called the manufacturer's support line. I was told I could send it back to them and I would get a refund. Once I did they refused to refund my money, keeping my CD over a month finally sending it back with a note to return it to where I bought it. The problem is that there was a 30day return policy and had they sent it right back when they decided not to refund my money I could have returned it to the place I purchased it. Again unless you have a special gaming computer DO NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS.
Customer Review: Buy Your Copy Now! Summary: 5 StarsThis is an amazing RPG, shooter and overall experience. The world is massive with lots to explore and lots to destroy. I recommend purchasing the PC version if you do not have fast enough internet to download extra content from.Fallout 3
Customer Review: Just what I have been looking for Summary: 4 StarsThis is by far the best game I have ever played. The amount of things you can do in fallout 3 is amazing. I keep discovering new things I can do that I don't remember reading about in the manual. There are probably to many to list. Anyway if you like RPGS and SCI FI you will love this game. The only small problem I have is the 3rd person veiw. Aiming in 3rd person is pretty useless and the guy appears to be sliding when he walks. However fallout 3 has so much more to offer that these minor flaws are easily overlooked. I have not touched any of the other games I own nor do I feel the need to buy anymore games right now. I am very content spending my spare time with fallout 3. I LOVE THIS GAME!!
Customer Review: A great game, but buggy Summary: 2 StarsThe game is fantastic. I've played it in the 360 version and loved it. When I got my PC version in the mail, I was quite happy.
However, to my dismay, the game doesn't seem to be well refined. I've been getting NUMEROUS crash-to-desktops (without any error or pattern). I've looked for various solutions, and tried every single one I've come across. No dice. And I've got a rather above average system.
But it seems that to most players, it is a fine game. However, this is a huge chunk of the community that is getting this and various other errors we are speaking of. The PC boards of Bethesda are completely packed with issues of CTDs and other crashes, and at patch 1.7 they still failed to do anything about it, some may say it's gotten worse.
If you really want this game, get it for the 360, the ps3 apparently has more problems than the 360 version. If you MUST have it for the pc, I'd recommend you borrow it from a friend to see if it works past 1-2 hours first. Hell, the game is so unpolished for the unlucky many that pirating might seem a good idea if only to test if it works. Don't do that, though.
Customer Review: High standards from a Legacy. Summary: 4 StarsI am a huge fan of the Fallout series. Played Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. Played each through multiple times. When word first came about this new direction for the Fallout world, I was on the fence but knew the studio doing the development was solid.
Fallout 3 Delivers! I found the game incredibly fun with much of the same style and gameplay of the original except from a new point of view. Starting out I just in awe of the size and detail of the maps as they felt like they just went on and on forever. It gave me a huge bug to just dig in and explore this world!
Another big part of Fallout is the story of course. This one was rather good but could have been better at least for my tastes. I did enjoy most of the little side quests, at least for a while.
However I am the type of player that loves to explore and be rewarded for it which brings me to the things I did not like.
While the side quests were neat, they got repetitive fast. After the initial fun of exploring, the whole world felt too similar. Then it got to the point where there was just not enough new equipment to justify exploration anymore.
The weapons were frustrating becomes only a few were actually worth using. Some were just so cumbersome to carry and not very accurate that it was not worth messing with, especially when ammo is in short supply. I always found myself hording the 'nice weapons' and their ammo but in the end always used what was the most efficent and with easy access to ammo... which means the hunting rifle. So here we needed more variety and better ability to get ammo for the weapons.
Transportation. Other than some of the barriers and such, the teleport function while efficent really ruined the maps. Walking sucks for some parts but they should have put in a car and/or motor bikes. It would have been super kool to been able to salvage some of those cars around and turned it into your own vehicle to store stuff like some of your heavy weapons. Huge missed opportunity here IMO.
House. They should have allowed you to take an empty building and make it your personal base. Allowing you to stock it up and hire guards to defend against attacks... and then forcing the player to defend it every now and then.
Story was good as I said earlier but could have been way better. They should have explored more into the various factions and let you as a player develope with them. Some factions you do not get to interact with until late in the game but you never really get to do much with them. These parts felt too driven with not as much freedom to go your own path. The whole water angle was a nice idea but should have been a smaller point of a larger struggle.
Now while these are all things I believe the game should have done better, I still loved the game and have put crazy hours into it. I highly recommend this game and am looking forward to a true sequel.
