I've been a devoted drag racing enthusiast throughout my life, that's why I've purchased every version of drag racing simulator in the market, including NHRA Drag Racing (still the best!), to all the versions offered by Bethesda Softworks. When I ordered NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing, I expected a version steps above from Burnout, Hot Rod Championship Drag Racing, Player's Choice Edition (PCE). Instead, I found NIRA not only similar (I go as far to say inferior) to PCE, but it lacked some of the most raced cars in the import world, including Toyota's Starlet, Datsun's 1200, and Mazda's RX-3 and early generation RX-7s. The engine sounds on NIRA leaves a lot to be desire, too. Of the engine sounds available, Bethesda included those from V-8 engines, a powerplant that is seldom (if never) used in import drag racing vehicles. NIRA doesn't even have the sound of the Winkle Rotary Engine, one of the most recognized and raced in the import drag racing circuit. I ended up playing it twice because I became disappointed with it right away. Let's hope Bethesda can redeem itself with the upcoming release of IHRA Drag Racing. Otherwise, drag racing fans will look to other companies, like Motion Software, to get their drag racing games.
