Video Game Reviews of The WitcherCustomer Review: PC GAME Summary: 3 StarsGOOD GAME THAT NEEDS SOME FIXES SO IT DOESN'T CRASH SO MUCH IF IT IS EVER FIXED IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL
Customer Review: Nothing new in this review Summary: 5 StarsI'm just adding my stars basically. The product review is pretty accurate, and the reviews here are pretty well representing of the game. I've really enjoyed it, and despite a few things that took a while to figure out and the game being too easy on normal difficulty, this is one of my top 5 favorite PC RPGs. It really is good, and the story is actually engaging most of the time.
Customer Review: slow but worth the wait Summary: 4 StarsI'm really enjoying this game when I'm not waiting for it to load and/or save. The story is interesting with many side quests. You do have to play as a male and I'm a female; I can live with that though I would have liked the choice.
This is not a suitable game for children as it is a little (and to some a lot) naughty - lots of foul language and sexual situations. I understand that there is a lock you can download from the web site that gets rid of most of that - but then it sure wouldn't be as much fun. It's way naughtier than Bard's Tale.
The main problem with the game is that it takes a long time to load and save whenever you go from one area to another - even just out of a house. This can be good because you can get some housework done while waiting - or mow the grass - or play a round of golf. I have a pretty fast machine but it is a pretty long wait sometimes. The game uses a lot of resources so a restart is needed every couple hours and then that takes a long time too.
If you don't mind the wait, and you don't mind the adult themes, this is really a fun game and probably has some replay value as some of the dialogs change the story. I would recommend this game but only if you have lots of memory and a fast processor.
Customer Review: It will tide you over Summary: 3 StarsIt's a cross between NWN2 style fighting with some button mashing elements in it. Load times suck. There is a lot of dialogue and running around which can get tedious at times. Real time fighting works out okay although the controls are a little clunky. Otherwise decent story, good voice overs, good music and the graphics are fair to middlin.
Customer Review: Horrible Combat Summary: 2 StarsI have been a big fan of all the best and most popular games such as Half-Life2, BF2, Halo, MOH, COD4, and most importantly....Oblivion. I played all expansions of Oblivion to the fullest. Many other PC games I have played I cannot recollect at this moment. I was very intrigued about the upcoming Witcher for at least a year. I also waited until the price was normal before I tried it. The result was disapointing. I spent two hours trying to figure out the combat. Did you know the main character can never take his sword out except in combat? Did you know that when he is in combat he ALWAYS has his sword positioned over his head? You cannot click, hit and dodge...oh no..you have to wait for the EXACT time to left OR right click. yup. no messin around. You can only attack the guy with the little red ring around him. the enemy behind you can keep busting you until he has the little red ring. You also have to push a button to change your tactics depending on if your attacker has armor or not. My arm was sore after two hours of right and left clicking as fast as I could.
Compare to Oblivion? You know it...and this is a dismal failure. I predict the price TANKS by mid-summer or earlier.
wait until its 10 bucks in a few months before you buy it.
