Customer Review: Bring Back the 2D and the Clone-like Peeps!
Summary: 3 Stars

Having been a HUGE fan of RCT 1 and 2, I was initially excited to hear about the release of RCT 3. But once I heard that the look of the game, the guests, the rides, the handymen, etc. was changed, I was very disappointed. I loved the colorful graphics and cuteness of the former versions, and was very attatched to them. However, I thought I'd give the game a chance.

My instincts had been right, however. Sure, the graphics are nice, and there were some cool additions such as fireworks and nighttimes and VIP guests, and guests that can arrive in groups and can talk to each other (I enjoyed creating my own guests too). But I didn't really like the graphics as much as I thought I might--they seem to clutter up the screen, while the 2D graphics were clearer. The construction, finance, etc. buttons are in a confusing layout. The zoom makes me motion sick. The whole game runs a little slow. There aren't enough attractions to choose from. You have to worry about keeping your handymen happy all the time. And the guests are so dang stupid. At least the squat little peeps from the former games knew where to find the bathrooms. Not to mention that the guests themselves look rather awkward and ugly. Their expressions are idiotic and creepy.

If I were in charge of RCT 3, here's what I would've done: I would've kept the beloved 2D graphics (which were really quite good for 2D), and added the fireworks and VIPS. I would've kept the old, cute design of the guests, but perhaps given them at least different hairstyles, and maybe different sizes ("kids" and "adults"). I would up the guests' intelligence considerably, so that they could come to the parks in the groups and talk to each other. And I would add more fun background extras, like the famous quacking ducks in RCT 1!

Customer Review: 2,3,1.... Best to Worst
Summary: 3 Stars

RCT ....2 was great. I beat about 20 of the scenarios. I got really good at it. Sadly, all that experience has gone to waste with this release.

It is a completely different layout for the whole game. Now I'm not going to BS to you about the graphics because everyone else had done that. Someone forgot what made the old game so great. I definitely would qualify for an RCT veteran in terms of my knowledge of the previous game, but when I got #3 I felt lost. Number 1 to 2 was a simple change. They fixed all the little problems that existed. In number 2 the layout was VERY similar to # 1. The transition was so smooth. Now the whole GUI has taken a turn for the worse from #2 to #3. not only. The new GUI looks like a whole bunch of bubbles that seem to be arranged with completely different icons for everything with no apparent order.

Lack of key buttons and organization break this game. The game, to sum one of its main problems, asks the player to manage more and more (with much more detail) with less and worse tools. How many of you would like to decide the color of each pebble in your park ? ..Huh? Not me. I also don't want to care about meticulous details that would take so long to manage the park perfectly that I wouldn't have time to build anything.

The other main problem that I can easily pinpoint and put in words was not actually something that is able to pinpoint. This only exists in number 3 and not in number 2 or 1. The game can act slow at times. Certain buttons have about a 1 second delay before they respond. its not my computer. I have a brand new dell. ( 3GHz Dual processor, 2GB ram, and 256 MB graphics). I just picked this game up, it loads quick with the highest graphical settings. I don't know what it is. Everything has a slow aftertaste about this game. the people do no move fast enough for one. It seems like in about 10 minutes ( real time) guests would be lucky if they got across the park. Coasters make about no money, partly from running slow. Also, coasters can seem short. They may only support 20 people. People just talk. In rct3, not only are the graphics 3D, but the problems are 3D too.

Customer Review: Not that great

All this game is good is for digging huge holes and filling them with water in sandbox mode. Then you build an extremely steep mountain and drop people off the mountain. This is fun but can get boring after a couple thousand times.

Customer Review: Waste of money!!!!

My mom got this game and the soaked expansion pack for me and my brother for the summer. We were so excited to play it! The next day we started to install it into our Windows XP. It is a very good computer and since we had no problems installing other games we expected no probs with this one. We were dead wrong. After installing it, we saw all these cool screen shots and we got even more excited to play the game. When the play window popped up, tingles went up my spine and we eagerly clicked it. While we thought it was loading up, after a little bit a window popped up saying some error or something. Anyways, we dicided to click continue. Still no luck. We tried again and again and uninstalling and re-installing the game. Then we looked at the video card it needed and we found out it cost from 50 to $300!!!! WHAT A RIP OFF!!! Buy another game such as Zoo Tycoon 2. That is a far better game and has no complications.

Customer Review: one of the best games ever!
Summary: 4 Stars

This game is really great. When you build rollercoasters or other rides, you can get into this special thing called coastercam. It lets you actually ride the rides!:-) This game definately beats the other rollercoaster tycoon games. The graphics rock, the game play is awesome. I highly recommend this game if you are looking for a fun computer game.
