Video Game Reviews of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Gold Compilation PackCustomer Review: Great game, but never perfect performance. Summary: 4 StarsI've had this game since it came out and I've played it on the 3 different computers I've had since then...daytime play improves with each computer, but night play is horrible. The game is very choppy and very slow. This game is an extreme strain on your computer. My computer has a 2.4 GHz Dual Core Processor, 1GB RAM and a 512MB Video Card and I still cannot get great night play. The game was very poorly made...but it is extremely fun when it's not slow and choppy (daytime play). So, unfortunately, while I enjoy the game, I can only play it in day-mode.
Customer Review: Not "Wild" about the Gold Pack Summary: 4 StarsDespite what was written in the description this pack does not contaill all the expansion packs for RCT, just the water park. That being said, it is a good game and for under $20 you can't go wrong. (I had a pirated version of this game when it came out, but couldn't run it on my PC. Once I upgraded my system and played it a few times, I went ahead and bought it ... it's that good!)
Customer Review: Cole's Review age 7 Summary: 4 StarsIt's really fun and there's lots of choices of roller coasters. Unlike Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, if you work in the sandbox mode you have unlimited amounts of money to build with. In 'Soaked' you can make pools, waterslides and new amusement rides. When you make pools the Peeps crowd into them. You do need a newer computer with lots of memory or it plays too slow. Cole
Customer Review: Endless fun until your PC runs out of memory Summary: 4 StarsRCT3 (I own the single disc versions) is one of the most addictive simulations especially for theme park afficionados.
Riding your own rides finally gave the game what it lacked until version 2. So, they combined all the best ideas from all those theme park simulations and put it in a (too?) big pot where you can help yourself - until your PC crashes. The game ist mostly stable but do not use too much particle effects like smoke, fog, fire and especially keep a low profile on these cool laser shows. When the laser shows run, your PC runs down (mine is a 3.2 GHz Intel machine with 2 GB RAM and a 256 MB ATI Radeon X600 graphics board, usually enough power for most of the games, but RCT3 obviously requires more to maintain the fun.)
It's logical, though: the more details you add to a park, the more fun it is, but the faster you will find yourself with a frame-by-frame stop-and-go disaster and possibly at last with a frozen screen. Best advice: regularly save your game even if it takes some time.
Anyway: I cannot remember having played more hours with a single game other than RCT3. And I am no longer a kid, but going on 50. It is BIG FUN!
Customer Review: Great game, RAM monster Summary: 4 StarsRollercoaster Tycoon 3 is a great game. Although after owning rollercoaster 1 and 2 the interface is radically different. It's a fun game with many rides from the pre-existing versions as well as MANY new rides to the rollercoaster tycoon series. I would recommend it as a gift, although it does eat RAM as it is a simulation game. Occasionally, the FPS will get kinda low if using a middle class GPU. This game almost requires a video card, on-board video is not powerful enough if you actually want to enjoy the 3-D enviroment. A great game, is kinda demanding, but if your system is up-to-date, you will definately be entertained.
