Video Game Reviews of Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Expansion PackCustomer Review: The Best of the Series So Far Summary: 4 StarsIf you like the Neverwinter Nights series, this is a must have. Offers the best single player campaign to date, new classes, spells, and abilities, and new creatures. In addition, charators can level higher than ever before. I highly recommend this to fans of the series.
Customer Review: Worthy upgrade for Neverwinter Nights. Summary: 5 StarsThis game is awesome, finally your character can brawl with the best of them. To the neverwinter fans, if you thought Shadows of Undrentide wasn't worth a purchase, this expansion will prove to you that missing out on all the new content is stupid. Personally, I thought Shadows of Udrentide kicked @$$ but to each his own opinion. Epic spells, feats and levels make this game a must buy if you bought the first Nevewinter. Tons of online content in the form of Mods is already available utilizing the expansion. The toolset has also recieved heafty additions in the form of tilesets, monster, scripting and armor.-Dungeon Masters rejoice. Theres more of everything but most important thing of all, the graphics are now better due to the 'sky boxes'(give the appearance of a sky in background) and the ability to move the camera right beside you. It feels almost like another game. I'll be playing this game for another year or so. Bioware really listens to the fans and it shows in spades.
Customer Review: Not quite the same game. Summary: 3 StarsI bought Shadows of Undrentide primarily because it had added many new prestige classes. This sounded cool, along with the new creatures you could summon. There are a few problems, though, that I could not overlook. I enjoyed making items for my characters through DM mode. But now, you immediately are robbed, making this taxing. Even if you create stuff outside of the room, it winds up dissapearing. Another problem is it's interface. It just feels like a player created mod. It lacks the depth of play that the other games had. Drogan sends you on these boring "Find me this" missions, that just get old soon. The amount of experience you get from killing creatures also makes it feel like it is not worth it. It levels you up to 15, and then gives you 30 EXP drow elves for you to slaughter. My Level 13 sorcerer/2 arcane archer annihilates the competition with one spell. To summarize, this is a good game, and continues out the story (while not to the best of NWN's ability), and gets the job done as a D&D sim.
Customer Review: Best Neverwinter thus far Summary: 5 StarsThe first expansion pack was a disappointment - too little playing time, and what seemed like a quickly thrown together storyline. This second expansion pack was awesome to play. The new stuff is great: Epic classes and skills, multiple NPCs, majorly souped up (and customizable) weapons and armor, and much more playing time. Plus you can import your level 12-15 character from the previous Neverwinter, or start a new level 15 character and manually level them up. (All your equipment gets "stolen" in the opening sequence - but it doesn't matter, because within an hour or two you've gotten much better stuff already!) This game was a joy, I just finished it and am starting again with a different character.
Customer Review: Do NOT buy this defective expansion pack !!!! Summary: 1 StarsThis game starts out great .. just like the original Neverwinter Nights and the first expansion pack ... Shadows of Undrentide. However, about halfway through the game, the NWMain.exe file starts corrupting and the game freezes and you can NOT go any further in the game. Check out Bioware's technical support website about this game ... thousands of player complaints. Bioware/Atari are aware of these bugs and are doing NOTHING about fixing them. Buy this game only if you want to be VERY disappointed halfwat through the game!
