Video Game Reviews of Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green

Customer Review: Frustrating crap
Summary: 1 Stars

Looking for some zombie action I download this one.

I find myself with a shotgun in front of a crowd of zombies.

Knowing how slow they are, I run up to the nearest one, almost putting my shotgun in his mouth.

I fire. Surprised, I see how the bullets hit everything BEHIND the zombie's head.

I try again. Same result.

I try again. Same result.

I try again. Same result.

By now my shotgun shells reach 0.

I unistall the game and I wonder what could I have done with the 20 bucks.

Customer Review: A thrill ride through the Romero universe
Summary: 5 Stars

Although this is a budget game, it was a tremendous amount of fun to play, especially if you are a Romero/zombie fan. Play it with the lights out and the sound turned up and try not to jump. I had absolutely no problems loading or playing the game on my Dell 4550, Pentium 4 2.5, 512 RAM, Nvidia MX440. My only complaint is that you have to be very precise with the weapons and frequently it takes 3-4 shots to take down a zombie. I'll admit to using the cheat codes to get all the weapons and ammo a couple of times. Again, if you are a fan of the zombie movie genre, give this game a try.

Customer Review: Delivers Zombie Fun At Bargain Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed the game. It had a retro old-school budget gaming feel. Very strong in the basics of shooting zombies, blowing `em up, chopping them down, and being always close to the edge of getting overwhelmed.

Your character is a ordinary farmer who finds himself faced with zombies and at first very little in the way of weapons to deal with them. He does acquire more powerful weapons but he's never going to be a supersoldier; you become aware that he can sprint only in short bursts and his weapon skills never guarantee that even his carefully aimed shots will always bring the enemy down.

I'd recommend Land of the Dead for someone looking for solid, no frills fun. It doesn't have the detailed gameplay of far more expensive games but it delivers the videogame equivalent of those low-budget zombie movies: shuffling zombies, a variety of weapons, desperate situations, and a very slender "plot." I particularly liked the level where you need to protect your partner as he sprints through a zombie-filled street and parking lot in order to commandeer a truck: you provide covering fire from a nearby rooftop using a sniper rifle. You've got to do some good shooting or...

Is it perfect? No. It's no RE4 or Half Life 2. However comparing Land of the Dead to those games would be like comparing a very low-budget (but still entertaining) movie to a major Hollywood production costing thirty times more to make. If you don't mind some rough edges, you could find this game right up your alley.

Customer Review: Good Game for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Ill start off by saying that if this game were to cost more than $20 I would have given it less stars but because it is only $20 it is a fair deal. LOTD is a fun game but dont expect any top of the line effects or art as in shooters like FEAR or HALF LIFE 2 because if you do you may be disappointed. The graphics in this game are not bad but not really impressive. The sounds are great and the music definitely sets and fits the horror tone to the game. Gameplay is just like other 1st person shooters but this game has some glitches and feels a little more sluggish than other 1st person shooters like FEAR or HALF LIFE 2. The story is not a bad one but not an excelent one just average but enough to keep you interested. Overall this is a good game for $20 especially for horror fans and people who like shooters. Worth it.

Customer Review: CREEEPY!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you like zombie movies or zombie games, you'll like this game. It's obvious it doesn't match the stellar graphics of most current fps's now, it matches them in gameplay. And the gameplay fits the atmosphere perfectly. The environments are believable with mundane objects of everyday life. That's important because the mood is set with the tense music and frightening creatures. The developers did a great job of creeping the crap of me by the zombies' sounds and attacks. They're unpredictable. At one moment, they're standing or walking slowly then they come at you at lightning speed. I've never played a game in which the monsters have scared me so much. People talk about being scared by the monsters and zombies in Doom 3. I always knew Doom 3 was just a game when I played it. In this game, the tension is real and I was always on edge to keep the zombies away from me. A shame the developers couldn't have spend a little more time cleaning up the graphics and eliminating some of the few bugs in the game. But the game is definately worth the money. Try it.
