Video Game Reviews of Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionCustomer Review: If you don't like it, you should stick to pacman! Summary: 5 StarsThis game is one of the best RPG ever created for the following reasons:
* Stunning graphics that will make you forget about your wife and children
* Fun gameplay with great combat system
* wide range of skills where each one was thought of carefully
* open world where you can do anything from going to different cities and choosing the quests you want to do first to joining different guilds
* you can steal, kill people you aren't supposed to, commit offenses and serve time in jail; its totally open!
* you can own houses and store items in them, and you can duel people for fame in the arena!
* awesome customer service by bethesda!! my save files were Corrupted and when I emailed them, they replied the same day and asked me to email them my save files. They sent my save files for debugging and fixed them!!!! they fixed my files!! now how is that for customer service!!!
Customer Review: Sound problem Summary: 1 StarsMy son bought this game for himself, with the little money he has left. Unfortunately there is a sound problem with this game: ear-piercing buzz comes on throughout. I went online to research the problem, which apparently is known and not uncommon, depending on the set up of your computer/sound card. The game itself is fun, but not really playable unless you turn the sound off. Go online and make sure your sound setup will work with this game before purchase. (I have two kids who are constantly playing all sorts of video games on the computer - this is the first game we have had any problem with.)
Customer Review: A great game with one major flaw Summary: 2 StarsI really liked this game at first, but I couldn't bring myself to playing it when I found out one particular quality of the game. What I am referring to is the fact that no matter where you are, the game difficulty will be appropriately set to your current level. This is one of the worst decisions ever. What is the point of writing a game that is totally immersive and free ranging if you can survive any area you wander into. The fun of playing such a game is the possibility of wandering into an area where you could get slaughtered if you came across some high level creature. You reload and make a mental note of that area and look forward to going back there when you are more powerful.
This is just my personal opinion about one aspect of the game. If you don't feel the same way, then this will be a very enjoyable game for you. If you agree, try the Gothic series (Best immersive games I have ever played).
Customer Review: Best RPG anywhere. Summary: 5 StarsI originally got Oblivion for the 360 and I was shocked. I've never had so much fun. The AI, visuals, story lines, all of it was superb. I'd find myself wandering through the woods just to see all the visual beauty. On more than one occasion I recall simply saying, "this is just beautiful". The game tweaks the quality based on what your hardware will support, so the game will run on hardware less than the best, which is really nice of Bethesda to do. The non-player characters (NPCs) live their own lives making the game so enjoyable. Unlike so many games where the NPC walks back and forth waiting for you to interact with it, Oblivion NPCs carry on about their own business. Depending on the time of day, they may be eating dinner at the local pub and not interested in selling anything to you. I started playing it two years ago. I am still enjoying it, and there are still things to discover in all the ruins I haven't come across yet. This game defines the standard, and all others come up short. I've tried other games hoping to find one as enjoyable, but they just do not add up. Bethesda put so much effort into the smallest and most insignificant parts of the game, that actually make the realism and experience the best. I've even had my horse run off chasing and getting into a fight with a deer buck. Incredible. I fell in the floor laughing (horses and deer do actually get into scuffles). I
later bought the PC version in order to discover the vast world of Mods. Amazing. The only thing missing is more primary content from Bethesda. I can't wait.
One word of caution... you can waste a LOT of time with this game. But with the ability to play for only ten minutes, save and stop, it can be precisely whatever time you want to be wasted.
Customer Review: AWESOME Summary: 5 StarsI have never played and RPG game on computer before. I used to make fun of people who did. They look boring and slow and really pathetic. After trying to play Oblivion, Ive been hooked from the start and everything about it is just amazing. I would want everyone I know to try it even knowing im being a hypocrit.
