Video Game Reviews of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Customer Review: WARNING---extremely addicting!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

if you haven't played this yet... you don't know what a good open-ended RPG is!

graphics: the graphics are great... but you need a good system to run them... i have windows vista home premium server pack 1 with an intel centrino dual processer 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, and Nvidia GeForce' 93000m GS 512MB. and it ran smooth and perfect on that... and i didn't have any trouble with using the game on vista.... it really works... even better than on xp!

gameplay: at first... like every game... it's kinda hard... but it's really easy to get used to it. i love the armor and weapons...and you even get to make your own spells and enchant your armor with anything you want!!!!... i made this one bow that had 200 frost, fire, and elecrical damage, drain health 100 points for 30 seconds, damage 100 points of health for 30 seconds and soul trap for 3 seconds (soul trap... traps the power of the soul you kill with a soul trap on it and lets you use it for enhancements)... and i called it "THE REAPER" :P (i used it to kill the final boss in the main quest... and it only took 1 shot.... good thing too... because it only had one shot in it.... see, if you enhance weapons they have an amount of times you can use them before you have to recharge them... and since i made soo many enhancements on that bow it only had one shot...) i think that's a suitable name... don't ya think??? ^.^

music: it's kinda cool.... there is alot of music in oblivion...and most of it is kinda creepy...

story: there is so many stories!!! and all of them are really good... and for me... the story is everything! and if a game doesn't have a good story i hate it!!! but if it does have a good story... i don't even care if the graphics suck... good thing this game has alot of great stories and good graphics... and it even has some famous actors in it... well not in it... they play the voices of some of the charactors: Patrick Stewart, Terrence Stamp, and Sean Bean.

replay value: what would an RPG be without really good replay value.... in other words IT'S GREAT!!!!!!

doesn't that sound awesome.... but the thing you need to know.... is that this game is super addicting.... i played it for 6 days straight with 3 hours of sleep.... i couldn't stop playing!!!

so if you think you can control yourself... get this game AFAP(as fast as posible)!!!

P.S. oh and make sure you look up the cheat for money... it makes the game alot more fun if you don't have to keep making money... i only used like 18 million thoughout the entire time i played... so you see why you need the cheat....18 million isn't easy to get otherwise!!!

Customer Review: Fun game, fast delivery
Summary: 4 Stars

Good condition and it didn't take long to get here. I mostly got it at my brother's suggestion. Pretty neat graphics and story line, you can be fairly creative with designing your own character--I thought that was cool. I haven't gotten too far yet but my brother has and he really likes it. He told me you can do more things and explore more places than Fable even. I guess it might be like a darker/harder version of Fable perhaps.

Customer Review: A great game on a Console Platform. Beware if you're playing on a PC
Summary: 3 Stars

I've played this game on the 360. After that console died by contracting the 'Red Ring of Death', I purchased the game for my PC. I'm running the game on XP with a liquid cooled Intel Duo Core 3Ghz CPU, a nvidia 8800 GTS, and 3GB RAM. I can't play the game more than a few minutes without the game overheating my CPU and shorting out my PC. The game may work well on a top of the line machine (with a Liquid Nitrogen Cooling System), but if you plan to run the game on a mid-level machine - Save your money! For an older title, this game requires a lot of horse power.

Customer Review: Fun, but flawed.
Summary: 3 Stars

I've long been a fan of tabletop and computer roleplaying game, but this was the first of the Elder Scrolls series of games that I had played. It was a fairly fun game, but had some definite flaws that if worked out could have made it much better.

The Good:
The graphics - The graphics in this game are simply beautiful. Especially if you have the computing power to run them near top settings.
The freedom - The freeform nature of the game is nicely done, and a lot of the sidequests are fun and interesting.

The Bad:
The Main Storyline - Unfortunately this seems to be a flaw in many freeform rpg games. Lots of development effort is spent on all the sidequests, and the main quest suffers because of it. The main storyline in this game was fairly short, and not all that interesting.
The Ending - The ending of the game was not good at all. It was a huge deus-ex-machina (your character simply gets to watch as the climax takes place) and was quite a letdown.

The Ugly:
The leveling/difficulty system - The leveling and difficulty system in this game is very confusing and counter-intuitive. A character's power level is not tied directly to his character level, and it's easy to make a character that levels very quickly, but remains quite weak throughout the game (in fact, making logical choices when creating the character will almost certainly lead to this). The difficulty of the enemies you face does scale directly with your character level though. When you add the two together, it means that it's very easy to make a character that will get in over his head as you level him up. People who are already familiar with the game system won't have the problem, but those who are new to it might find it incredibly frustrating (I did).

So in summary, it's a fairly fun game, but it's got some major flaws too. If you can get a copy cheaply enough, it might be worth picking up, otherwise, I'd probably stay away.
